Don't think BBC1 will be too distraught by that. EE will no doubt timeshift decently, and the BBC3 repeat may have done very well too.
EE has overnighted worse than that when up against Em[Fm], so 5.2m plus timeshift seems very decent indeed considering the half-hour BGT head start. Springwatch did ok-ish, and we know from past experience that it does usually shave a bit off EE (and Corrie).
10.9m for BGT is obviously very good, and if that's 200k up on last year, then you can't argue against that. I suppose it could be said that last year, the live shows didn't have a "Cowell return" enhancement, and it remains to be seen whether the chance to see him back caused a temporary uplift that might not be sustained all week.
I think ITV should have aired BGT in one block. The intervention of Corrie meant BGT lost 1.1m viewers.
Then again, it did boost Corrie - so in the absence of another bit of carnage-culling to inflate ratings, some Cowell life-support is probably a good way of re-introducing ITV's famously sedentary viewers to the show.
