Yes, but advertising prices are always higher in the run up to Christmas. It's why they're determined to keep X Factor and I'm A Celebrity there and wouldn't move X Factor to after Christmas even if Cowell could do it as advertising prices slump after Christmas. I suspect if TXF Final was on this weekend and set to get the same rating as it got at Christmas (I know it wouldn't do as well at this time of year but theoretically) they'd probably looking at ~£180-200k per spot instead of £250k. Remember that the £42 per 1000 16-34s figure is an average from across the year. Using that with the ratings from TXF Final you'd expect ad spots to go for £200k per 30 seconds, but as it was the run up to Xmas it was £250k. That's how much difference it makes. I suspect that £120k figure is for the performances with spots in the results going for a bit more, which shows that whilst TXF is more popular, airing in the run up to Xmas boosts the prices of advertising spots during it considerably.

Not surprising at all that Corrie held up better than BGT as BGT and The Apprentice have a much larger audience crossover than Corrie and The Apprentice, and in addition BGT started halfway through TA, whilst the performances show aired whilst the weather was still good so it didn't have much going for it last night.

Apprentice dented BGT Results pretty substantially then, less than 2m gap between them. Think ITV will be pleased with the Main Show and Corrie's rating though.

That's an appalling rating for BGT's results. The Apprentice clearly dented it badly and whilst TA was also dented a bit it's not surprising that BGT was dented much more as TA had a 30 minute head start. BGT performances and Corrie did fairly well, and Cowell will be pleased that BGT topped the night. The weather clearly hit it hard as the share was almost identical to Monday's but 2m less were watching. I know I spoke in favour of the current scheduling a couple of days ago but looking at yesterday's and Tuesday's ratings I do wonder if it's been a mistake, as if BGT had been one show from 7:30pm it would have averaged nearly 10m, and would have been easily above 10m with an 8pm start. Shame. Waterloo Road didn't hold up as well as I'd hoped, again that'll be the weather. LOR did as badly as everyone expected.

Quite low for BGT.

I thought it would be getting at least 11million now.

I think this year is going to be a low year for ratings reality TV wise.

But saying that though. The X Factor had it's best ever rating last year and so did SCD after the the badly rated BGT last year.

Drops of about 6-7% for Britain's Got Talent compared to last year. The main show rated lower than I expected, considering it didn't face EastEnders for the first time this week, I thought it would be able to remain stable compared to the night before but it fell a little once again. The results show was badly dented by The Apprentice, which I'm not too surprised with given that the audience profiles of both shows are similar. But 7.9m for a big show like Britain's Got Talent makes bad reading and the gap between itself and The Apprentice was only within 1.6m (yeah I accept TA had the head-start advantage though). I think in the last two years BGT has relied too much on "weird" and "bonkers" contestants - whilst that works well for TXF as it drums up press coverage every week when there's a "joke" act in the finals, I don't think it works for BGT - they should just go back to putting really talented people through like the earlier years (maybe with the odd 1 or 2 'joke' acts thrown in for the whole week, not every single night!) which makes it a better show overall. The scheduling needs reworking too - if it means that having one combined live show results in one fewer ad break, they should just extend the audition episodes to 75 minutes like TXF to balance out that effect.

Waterloo Road didn't hold up as well as I was expecting, given how well it's been rating recently. Ratings have been about 1m up in recent weeks compared to last year but last night's figure was about half a million up vs. last year. Maybe the weather had a negative effect as Score's suggested. The Life of Riley rating is poor and even though apparently they signed to do another series, they'll probably scrap that idea now! The Apprentice did well to hold onto 6m+ and the rating is quite similar to a few of last year's episodes which rated at 6.4/6.5m against much weaker opposition which just shows how strong this current series has been. I think 2m for 24 Hours in A&E really is excellent for Channel 4 given the competition, on another night it'd be capable of close to 3m, and it's been a real hit for C4 among a lot of flops recently. C5's pre-9pm struggled but NCIS did decently.

You are correct, althgough they do not have the same regulation requirements. For C4 HD and C5 HD which show the London and part network feeds respectively, it's a rather easy job behind the scenes to map all HD viewing to those two regional channels without any need for fancy editings and calculations that would be required for ITV. So in Channel 5 regional terms, all HD viewing is attributed to Channel 5 Part Network and not London say so commercial impacts will only be counted either for part network commercials in the part network area or network spots in any area.
Ultimately, they are not separately reported because the broadcaster does not want them to be.

Rzt, Do you know whether 'You're fired' is up on last year? Or the same? I personally think Dara O Brian is way better than Chiles (and I LOVED Chiles on the show at the time, couldn't imagine anyone replacing him). I guess last nights was high because of surprise double elimintation, or is that the same as normal? Thanks

Also delighted that embarassing bodies LIVE rated low, (though I know it had tough competition), but the whole concept is voyeuristic in the extreme.
If this does well, next thing C4 will have people going to the toilet LIVE on TV, that's about all they haven't shown.

Nicely played by The Apprentice there; that is a fantastic result for it to hold up well above 6 million against Coronation Street and BGT. Waterloo Road was lower than I expected but not disastrous like last year's 2.71m rating was. Horrendous rating for Life of Riley though!

Emmerdale and Corrie did well, as did the BGT performances given the weather is now on the up. The share for the Talent performances looks decent enough but since this includes +1 here perhaps this will drop below 40% when the ITV1 ratings are out.

RZT, do you have the demographics for The Apprentice/BGT? I suspect The Apprentice beat BGT in the key advertising demos. Indeed if these were US style ratings we could well be saying The Apprentice won the clash.

Very impressive stuff from The Apprentice to hold up so well. I suppose I hadn't factored in the importance of having the 9pm junction. Even though Corrie took so many viewers at 9pm, there'd still have been millions flicking to find The Apprentice. No such luxury for the BGT results which seemed significantly damaged. The year-on-year fall of the results is probably the most concerning thing for ITV given that last years had the momentum sapped by Harry Hill repeats. Still, one would expect a healthy bounce-back tonight.

Gosh I didn't realise ITV included +1, That means the gap between TA & BGT was even smaller, probably closer to 1m?
