cant speak for EVERY show on FX, but NCIS is from CBS, and they have a for life contract.

also to continue the theme

I hope you're joking! Matthew Wright wipes the floor with Chiles, Schofe and Kyle on ITV. Emma Crosby is a rising star in the world of TV news, whilst Matt Barbet is a reliable friendly onscreen presence. Jim Rosenthal meanwhile is one of the best sports presenters in the business, and Natalie Pinkham is hot property at the moment following her appearances on the BBC covering Formula 1.

Overall I think they have some great presenting talent on the books. About the only thing I wouldn't change about Channel 5 is the types of people they work with! The only big gaffe they've made in that area in recent years which is well documented now is their deal with JLC. But I think pretty much all of the names mentioned in the Channel 5 survey would be good for the channel and help raise its profile, with the possible exception of Brian Dowling, so it's all good.

BGT has the head start on the Monday and Friday again this year.
I think EastEnders will fair better this year actually.
I've not heard that much about BGT this year compared to last and the week of EastEnders is also much stronger then that of last year (quite a big storyline running that week)
If i remember rightly EastEnders didn't rate tha bad and BBC 3 repeats had record highs.

Yeah that true we have missed an episode but i think we are on track.

The BBC could put out an hour on the friday (8-9) right after and Hour One Show but tbh i don't see the BBC making any changes

um Digiguide has lost the season and episode numbers on Channel 5, I hope that doesnt mean they are going into repeats, for no good reason.

Mixed performance for The Street That Cut Everything - a low rating for the 9pm airing, as expected, but the 10:35pm episode did very well, quite a bit up from how the slot usually performs IIRC. Strangeways continued with strong ratings - I think it would've performed well for an ITV documentary even against tougher competition - not at 5m+ levels, perhaps, if it was up against a drama but better than the usual sort of levels, because there seems to be a lot of interest in these prison documentaries. It is quite annoying though that neither BBC1 or ITV1 has a drama on Mondays this month - a solid drama would've done really well in that slot. Typically, after weeks of no drama in that slot, both will have dramas airing against each other in June!

Very bad evening for Channel 4, the lowest primetime share of the terrestrial broadcasters and Gordon's Great Escape continues to struggle. I am surprised his latest series is rating as low as it is. I know his ratings have declined a lot in recent years but as recently as a few months ago, his Shark Bait one-off had over 2m. I wasn't expecting that again but would've expected 1.5m, really. The Gadget Show isn't doing well this series, compared to its usual standards, with overnights consistently below 1m recently. Year-on-year, last night's episode was down 17% vs. the equivalent episode last year. Poor rating for There's Something About Josie, a drop of over 25% week-on-week; 0.5m is well below where Channel 5 really should be in that slot. With two programmes rating at 0.5m in the 10pm slot this week, it's not been the best 7 days for them. I'm pretty surprised that Made in Chelsea grew its audience as I hadn't read many positive things said about it. I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks whether the rise was due to more interest or mainly because it began at 10pm this week rather than 10.15pm which could've given it a boost.

Agreed, although as you pointed out even last night thanks to the ever reliable Hotel Inspector, they had enough going for them to beat Channel 4 in prime (4.2 to 3.8%). I could be accused of overstating the significance of this, as both broadcasters were below par overall, absolutely, but it's encouraging to see that pre-Big Brother, especially on a night featuring a new show with one of their biggest talents. My feeling is, and I've been quite open about this from the start, this pattern will intensify from August onwards.

Definitely not the best 7 days though - but I'm not giving up hope on Thursdays yet. I expect Emergency Bikers was a bit of a blip and will recover to around the 1m mark this week. (it got no promotion, whereas earlier in the year they were advertising repeats!) Not a clue what happened to Impossible, they did all they could for it and it wasn't a bad show by any means.

Not really, it was suitably large scale, the trailers featured loads of swearing and stuff and it was on a topical subject. I don't see how it can be considered any worse than Home Is Where The Heart Is, which ITV are showing at 9pm tonight, it's the same sort of formatted documentary, and that one's surely of more limited interest - "homeless person moves in with Alex from Blur" vs "Street descends into anarchy and fighting with piles of rubbish everywhere and Nick Robinson spreading dog muck". I'm not saying it was an Apprentice beater, I just thought it was a fairly straightforward bit of pop journalism like Watchdog.

Incidentally, you may notice that tonight's Crimewatch is not now proper Crimewatch, which is now next week, but one of those Crimewatch Solved things. Dunno why. A new one, mind. The Update's gone as well, natch, and everything after 10.30 is ten minutes earlier.

Yes, and they film Something For The Weekend there as well, all Princess Productions. It's easier for Princess to buy a studio if they have a daily show and a weekly show that runs all year round rather than hire one every day. Same reaon why Endemol owned the studio they do Deal or No Deal from. They do hire it out when they're not using it, though.

Well, yeah, but the original showing was its highest rating for ages, so anyone who wanted to see it had, and it was more or less at the same time at the original showing as well. In fact that's about the earliest the repeat's been on for ages.

I don't know why they don't repeat Norton after midnight on Saturday like they did with Jonathan Ross, actually, it seems more at home there.

Eastenders might rate better this year on Mon/Fri, as people can watch Eastenders at 8pm and then start watching Britain's Got Talent on ITV1 +1 at 8:30pm instead of on ITV1 at 7:30pm.

Indeed. With Crimewatch a "special" rather than a regular episode, and HIWTHI premiering to low numbers last week, the outcome of tonight's 9pm race will be very interesting tomorrow. It will be tight, and there could be some surprises.

Corrie on the Sunday?

Some perfect BBC1 competition for Corrie/BGT there. Seem to have gone down the filler/repeat route instead of starting new things.

So yet another show established and built up in this country by a FTA broadcaster before being bought by Sky in its prime. And so the cycle continues. A shame, particularly for those younger viewers who don't have Sky or cannot afford Sky... a lot of people venting their fury on the E4 website today.

At least there are alternative ways to keep watching.

And to add to the above since Elgin doesn't cover Channel 5 changes, Impossible has been pulled already from episode 3 onwards. Movie repeats take the 10pm slot from Thursday 2nd June, beginning with Timecop.

There are 3 further episodes in the series which were due to be shown as part of this run, so I guess will hold them back and try to find another slot for it depending on how the next 2 go down.

I've no idea why, but they should have kept it at 9pm. Why not:

19:30 - Britain's Got Talent
21:00 - Coronation Street
21:30 - Scott & Bailey
22:30 - ITV News

Considering it's lead-in, Scott & Bailey should do well, however considering Pirates' performance this past Sunday, it may end up getting walloped out the water.

one more change to the scheulde,. BBC 3 will only air 1 episode of Family Guy instead of the normal 2, dont know if this will continue. They are showing all of the "Road to..." episodes that night.

Its not all bad ive been wanting to see Road to the Multiverse again.

Sunday 29th is shaping up to be a big night of movies with Pirates (2) on BBC One, the network premiere of Benjamin Button directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club) on Channel 4, and the premiere of 21 starring Kevin Spacey and CSI's Laurence Fishburne on Channel 5. On top of all that Film4 are replaying the first X-Men movie to coincide with the release of X-Men: First Class. Lots of choices for the Bank Holiday!

Tommorow evening's ratings will be interesting. Will BBC1 and ITV1 dent each other or will something rate much lower than usual.

I haven't worked out what I will watch yet but I know in a 3 hour period, I want to watch 4.5 hours of TV!

Havent seen it, but the synopsis sounds pretty awful. I know you dont like Miilitary Driving School also but I quite like it and cant really see what the problem is although 2.5 hours of factual is a bit too much.

For all the pom poms and cheer leading, they dont wipe the floor in ratings terms.

I think Channel 4 could win the 9pm slot tonight with Channel 5 a close second. BBC1 and ITV1 aren't exactly trying very hard in the slot.

As for last night, good for the main soaps. Strangeways performed very well and The Street That Cut Everything held on to it's pre-news figures after 10.30.

Did they have it from the start though - the general pattern is a two year deal then rest of live deal.

Didn't another CBS production - the CSI franchise - start out on Living (at least some of them) for their first run outings with C5 only picking up first run rights a couple of years later - though I think with that deal at least the secondary rights were kept seperate so when C5 did pick up first run rights Living retained it in some form.

That is the problem with Sky now - they don't sell on the secondary rights like they used too. If they did and E4 could air the series as late as next June at least it wouldn't be such a kick in the teeth for the fans. It will be interesting to see then if ratings hold up the next couple of weeks - have previous shows like Lost and 24 taken a hit when Sky grabbed series 3 midway through series 2 airing?

Interestingly, the first episode was put on Sky Anytime at the weekend.

It's a very rare thing for a FTA channel to do that. Can't remember the last time.
