Hollyoaks is really dead in the water, it'll probably survive if the share remained around 7% but i dont see where it can go from here

AQOS has been rating quite low recently and yesterday's episode rated 1m below last year's episode which faced BGT - not sure if the episodes this year are repeats whereas last year they might've been new ones? I think that's HIGNYF 2nd lowest ever rating on BBC1 - an episode a couple of years ago which faced BGT had 3.51m. Gardener's World rated about the same as the same episode last year, whilst The Mentalist was down 180k but faced tougher competition last night (Corrie instead of TV Burp repeat).”

AQOS is very tired. It has been shown in practically every available slot on any possible day over the last few years. It also now seems to be a less-funny version of They Think It's All Over, except with Sue Barker. I'm surprised they haven't axed it yet, as they obviously don't really care about it.

Were ratings figures not available for Five at 10 pm last night, as in Paul Millar's TV ratings news article for Friday night Law & Order wasn't mentioned for at least the second week running?

Big ouch at Hollyoaks, however Emmerdale was affected as well by the weather I notice.

Britain's Got Talent - Overnight Final Ratings
2007 - 11.0m (44%) *peak: 12.1m (46%) and 10.6m (45%) *peak: 11.2m (49%)
2008 - 11.0m (51%) *peak: 13.0m (57%) and 13.1m (55%) *peak: 13.7m (57%)
2009 - 15.3m (71%) *peak: 18.0m (75%) and 17.3m (68%) *peak: 19.2m (72%)
2010 - 12.3m (55%) *peak: 15.0m (61%)

2007 and 2008 peak's are 15-minute; 2009 and 2010 peak's are 5-minute. Note, the overnights that come out tomorrow first thing will have the 15-minute peaks; last year's 15-minute peak was ~13.8m.

Or put another way, the curiosity value of a new panel could see TXF increase in the ratings. Actually sorry if I have posted three almost identical posts, but my internet ran very slowly for a while and it looked like the first two posts didn't go through.
Anyway, any bets on ITV1's big one tonight? I'm going for 12 million. Also DW could fall to 5 million with the competition, but will add 3 million on timeshift. Adding timeshift to DW's ratings and, after the two big soaps, it's the most popular drama at the moment.

Much better result for Britain's Got Talent yesterday - its been a varied week but averages out well. I think the year-on-year comparisons have been helped over the past few days by Corrie's great strength in the 9pm slot as opposed to the TV Burp filler that had to be thrown in last year. All in all, taking into account that last years BGT week was comparatively underwhelming, they'll probably be satisfied with this week's performance. No serious declines and a very tidy profit, I'm sure.

Friday tuned out to be one of BBC One's weaker performances. They'll otherwise be pretty happy with the way their ratings have turned out all week (they're in for an absolute mauling tonight, though!).

For tonight's BGT final, I'll be looking at 2008's results show as the best basis for comparison. I see no reason why we won't get a similar 15 minute peak getting towards 14m, and about 15m for a 5 minute one. So overall average - maybe 13.0 - 13.5m

Nice for Eastenders. Last year the Friday ep against BGT only had 4.34m (20.7%) so that's up nicely. Ouch for Hollyoaks. Doesn't come as to much of a surprise though as it was the exact same episode last year that pulled its lowest ever 6:30pm rating *.

* the true lowest Hollyoaks is 533k in Dec 2010 but it wasn't at 6:30pm so doesn't count for comparison

They would have been available, it just hasn't been included. Unfortunately I don't have the figure for you either.

For some reason, unlike his colleague Andrew, Paul doesn't seem to cover the 10pm ratings.

Is that 12 million for the results or main show Glenn. Don't forget that the show will be split the same like 2009.

I think the Main show will get 11.8m and the results will get 13.2m

How will the Derby rate today? I'll go for about 5 million.

Agreed. I'm astonished H&A held up as well as it did actually - up about 100k across the two showings year-on-year. Not brilliant, but the share is decent at over 5%.

Neighbours was pretty much flat.

Thanks for the figure. I'm so glad part 2 of The Mentalist finale didn't play out there!!

Hello, Sam, I'd go with your figures as I didn't make my figures clear. There hasn't been a Subo this year, so we won't see seventies type ratings this year, but 13 million seems likely for the results. Would you also add on the ITV2 repeat tomorrow?
Again sorry for these three posts about TXF. I might throw in a curved ball on this and say the curiosity value could see ratings increase for this series as people might like the new panel. I'm not so much against this show, but the hype that surrounds it.

Last year: 1.0m (13.9%). Not likely, to be honest. Probably peaks between 2m and 3m, but not much more.

Thanks for the Law & Order ratings info Paui.

While this hasn't been a stellar season of Law & Order (there have been some stand-out episodes though), things do improve in Season 18.

Any figures for the 7-8pm One Show on BBC1? Anything for Graham Norton as well?

Note though the Friday slot is now a repeat of the first run airing on Monday nights.

I agree though it's really gone downhill in the last few years and I can't stand the route it's gone down with Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell. It began to fail for me when they changed "What happened next?" into a multiple choice round, despite the magic of it being what weird and wonderful scenarios the panelists could come up with, and it continued to fail when it became the same old retired BBC faces appearing as guests, with the final nail in the coffin being bringing in comedians and non-sportsmen/women on a weekly basis.

I wouldn't say it needs axing though - but it does need going back to basics with at least new captains, if not a new host too.

I didn't think it was that low, but it doesn't attract the casual fan like the Grand National.

Hello, Dancc, though Neighbours is holding steady at close to 2 million. I think Neighbours now has a hardcore following that will never desert it, unless it goes haywire, and you could say ratings are flat as only the loyal fans are watching it now. However, just like a certain reality show will be in August, Bours is a ratings banker for Channel 5.

all things considered not a bad rating for The Mentalist on Channel 5. Hollyoaks see above, and despite some early predications, EE on BBC 3 failed to set any records.

The BBC will be glad when this week is over as ITV have beaten them fair and square. It also proves one thing: Eastenders isn't the force it was, when faced with something more entertaining, people will choose that over the joyless world of Walford. More proof now that ITV1 is well and truly back after the nightmare years of the noughties.
Also, Popstar to Operastar, an ideal summer show which will pull in 4 million, which is very respectable for this time of year and turn in a reasonable profit.

or to spin it another way, this week again proves that people will timeshift EE in the ever growing list of ways.

To be fair, the BGT live shows are 'event' TV for 1 week a year that has a large young audience so it is bound to affect EE. If the BBC had similar 'event' TV against Corrie the same thing would happen.

By the way, for anyone wondering, after 16 episodes, and with 4 left, the So You Think You Can Dance series average stands at a miserable 3.22m (16.6%). Surely the worst BBC1 Saturday series average since Totally Saturday in 2009, probably even further back?
