Call me mad but i really do think the BBC could do well bringing back an updated Noels House Party.
This would be my scedhule for the winter 6.00pm-SCD 7.30pm-Merlin 8.15pm-Lottery 9.15pm-Casualty 10.05pm news 10.20pm-MOTD Spring scedhule 6.15pm-Noel's House Party 7.30pm-Doctor Who 8.15pm-Lottery 9.15pm-Casualty 10.05pm-News 10.20pm-MOTD Summer scedhule 6.30pm- Total Wipeout 7.30pm- Lottery 8.30pm- Film 10.15pm-News The BBC has had great succes in the last 10 year's with drama on a Saturday night (Johnthan Creek,Doctor Who and Merlin).Casualty need's to go back to having a long summer break. Noel's House party was a huge hit, with an updated version there's no reason why it can't be again. |

I can't imagine what the benefit is to the BBC for such demographic info, probably detrimental if anything.

Here's those demos: http://i55.tinypic.com/m7alag.jpg.
not sure how the auidecne share is right however, how can something with 98,000 viewers, have anything close to 10% of any age demographic, yet alone 47% |

It means 47% of its 98,000 viewers were aged 65+.

Yes, I'm delighted that 5/6 million viewers know how to use a remote. A bit concerned for the similar number that apparently don't, and watched a 30 minute preview show in the gap.
![]() And the award for "wasted opportunity of the year" goes to... ITV1! A 5 minute preview I could forgive, but not half an hour. Absolutely not. Very curious to see the actual Popstar / Operstar ratings now to see if it was at all worth it. I'm thinking not, but we'll see... BBC Two and Channel 4 held up well last night. Poor for BBC One and Channel 5. ![]() Promoting a new programme is better than a Celebrity edition of The Cube in the gap, or Mr and Mrs, or something else like a Life Stories special. rzt, do you have the demo's for the following: - F1 Qualifying (BBC1, 12:10, Saturday 28th May) - F1 Race (BBC1, 12:05, Sunday 29th May) - Indy 500 (Sky Sports 4, 16:30), Sunday 29th May) And three other non-motorsport ones that I'd be interested in: - Hollyoaks (any day, preferably highest rating one though!) - Deal or No Deal (any day) - The Million Pound Drop Live (Saturday 28th May, 10pm) Obviously Hollyoaks demo's of interest to see how close it is to having that big slegehammer called the axe thrown down on it. Hope that's not too much.

Yes, but the amount viewing on iPlayer and timeshift has been around the same number every week, so it's not like when the live figures drop we suddenly see the timeshift/iPlayer ratings skyrocket. If that were the case then, sure, i could see the weather/timeslot having obviously had an effect, but it doesn't.
Having said that, last night's overnight was pretty good compared to how the rest of the series has rated and given the circumstances as well. Whilst ITV1 underwhelmed (BGT final result -0.9m down on DSRPG average prediction), Dr Who surpassed expectations (+0.5m). |

I think it will be a quiet night for ITV1 compared with last Sunday as The Royal is a run of the mill rater, probably pulling in 4.5 million viewers. ITV will just want to burn off these remaining episodes in the summer.

Depends if you put it into context or not: for a BBC1/ITV prime-time detective/crime drama, it's not an awful skew: Vera, for e.g., had a 7% 16-34 skew the previous week, Exile a few weeks ago had a 9% 16-34 skew, Silk had ~8% 16-34s so it's similar. Shows of this type nearly always skew with a relatively old audience (although this skewed slightly older) but it's the ABC1 demo which is the key as that's what advertisers will be targetting for this sort of drama - a 47% skew and 3.6m ABC1s for the show is high compared to most ITV dramas.
The ABC1 number is very strong admittidley. |

Popstar might pull in 4 million viewers, but the demographics will be excellent as opera is quite an ABC1 pastime. I think ITV is wising up a lot and realising that broader demos mean bigger profits.

Huh?
![]() Promoting a new programme is better than a Celebrity edition of The Cube in the gap, or Mr and Mrs, or something else like a Life Stories special. The graph just looks ridiculous where ITV1 nosedives for that half an hour and none of the other big 5 sees any rise of note. It just shows what a momumental waste it was. You're right, they don't normally do anything creative or imaginative with it, but why the hell not? A sitcom pilot or something has got to be worth trying there. It beggars belief that they used it for that. |

Don't see why those 30 minutes was a waste - better to promote a new entertainment show than burn off a Family Fortunes episode. Not sure what else they could put there. Difficult to launch a new drama on a Saturday night when we're heading into summer.

Personally after 2 hours of BGT, following another 2 hours+ of the football, the last thing you want is some heavy scripted show. |

Your previous comment said that fans would watch live regardless of weather, competiton etc. But, a number of Doctor Who fans dont. They watch via timeshift or iPlayer more than any other show in the country. It doesnt mean viewers who timeshift a show are less of a fan than a live viewer. |

I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of those 6.3m were only half watching. |

Do you really think it's going to make a jot of difference to how many people watch Popstar to Operstar tonight? Because I most certainly do not.
I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of those 6.3m were only half watching. |

so by that arguement, launching anything else new in the same slot would also have delivered no benefit to the show presumably?

I would have thought it would skew much younger considering the boost it got from a young skewing show, BGT. Add in the fact that neither of the leads are that old, Suranne Jones has only just turned 30 and I would have thought it would have attracted a lot more 16-34s. As Dancc has pointed out, to be beaten in the 16-34 category by HIGNFY which had nearly 3.5m less total viewers, is quite startling.

I assume the fact that 49% of hollyoaks audience is in its favour, hence all the Product Placement talk. Didnt think 28% of its auidence would be over 45.
