iTunes Account Balance Help
Albannach1876
15-05-2011
I use iTunes cards to pay for any purchases rather than my credit card and I don't buy that much. Is there a deadline for using the balance before you lose it? My balance seems to have dropped to zero, but as I can't remember the exact amount I had, I don't want to raise the issue with iTunes. I've looked at my purchase history and there's nothing rogue there.
Any ideas?

I wouldn't worry about contacting their customer services, although I don't tend to use iTunes Store anymore (as they hiked a lot of stuff upto 99p), they were most accomodating with issues I had.

Open up iTunes, Go to the Store menu, View My Account, sign in to your account and about half way down you'll see Purchase History. Click on that and you can see where it's gone.

If there's a problem, you'll find a Report A Problem link there!

2 years,

"this iTunes gift card is redeemable only on the iTunes store for the united kingdom and expires the later of two years from the date of (i) issuance or (ii) last activity on an iTunes account"

Copied from a back of an iTunes card.

Which means it does not expire in two years, but actually two years since you last made a transaction (and it is not clear if free purchases such as downloading a free app also count as "activity" as they are billed to your iTunes account and appear on the statement which suggests they may well do).

To all intents and purposes, it should never expire if you sync with iTunes every so often and perhaps buy something for 59p or 79p or whatever on your birthday as a treat, but you may not even need to do that if downloading a free app is treated as activity. Then again, why have credit on the account if it is never going to be used?
