Hi - a family member of mine has about 20 early Silver Age GL comics from 1960's (first Sinestro issue, first Crisis, few other "firsts").

To my eye they look like they're very fine/fine condition, not mint, little yellowing, the annoying 5c stamps on the front... I haven't had them graded by an expert.. A quick check online shows a few are valued in the hundreds of dollars..

He's wondering how to go about selling them - anyone have any recommendations on good outlets in London/mail order who'd be interested? eBay? Do we need to grade them/sold as seen?

Lastly, this was the big argument - does he sell them now while the film's coming out & there's a bit of GL interest, or save as an investment?

I've only bought from them but they buy stuff, too, as well as dealing with grading. Might be worth giving them a call.

Personally, if you're going to sell then I would've thought the best time is now, thanks to the film. I've noticed this with other collectables recently. The film draws out more interested parties than normal.

I know Silver Acre, and Daryl is definitely one of the better dealers to do business with, but I'd still advise selling them yourself either through an auction site or by some other private means. Generally, no dealer will give you more than about a third of the issue's resale value as they need to make a profit and back issues aren't moving as quickly as they used to. And I say that as a dealer (though usually in British rather than American comics).
