It was in the sun today. This is alittle unexpected. I know it was missed but five said viewers kept asking for it back... Seems a bit out of the blue. Oh well, good to see it back. Wonder what time it will be on.

You have no idea how happy this has made me after getting a C in English. Now I get to watch the first year or so that I never saw (I started watching at the Shockwave storyline). YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

Can't wait to see it back on our screens, it was a truly addictive and over the top soap - perfect really.

Lets hope its scheduled in a decent slot, and not in the middle of the night... 10:20-11:10 every morning would be nice, with a long omnibus on Saturday, just like it used to be.

The omnibus on Saturday afternoons gained legendary status among many of my female friends!

They reckoned there was nothing like curling up with a bucket of KFC chicken and a big bottle of Irn-Bru in front of the king of trashy soaps Sunset Beach, of course now their detox diets wouldn't allow for that sort of junk!

I've e-mailed Five to try and get confirmation on the return of SB, plus details regarding the timeslot they intend to show it in if the return is true.

Will post any details here...

I have done the same Chris. I hope it is shown in the morning like it use to be, along with a weekend omnibus!

It should be true, as the quote in The Sun is said to have come from a Channel 5 Spokeswoman rather than an insider.

No reply from Five as yet but they do say it can takle up to 72 hours to reply so hopefully they'll reply by the end of the week.

Yea, plus it doesn't make sense to lie about a soap being shown again!

cant wait for it but for all the wrong reasons, the acting was terrible the storylines were crazy and everything was so cheesy with the flashbacks and talking to themselves. the show was bizzare, hailarious and its going to be great providing its not had a huge revamp...

I think they're repeating the original series, not making new episodes. That's if I've understood the news story correctly.

Yeah, It will be a repeat rather than a new series. Can't wait for it to return, if it's true of course!

channel 5 replied to my email and has advised:

"Dear Correspondent

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

Yes, it's true, Sunset Beach will be returning to Five.

We have received so many enquiries since the programme ended that due to
popular demand, we have decided to buy the rights again and repeat the
programme weekdays from Episode 1, starting on 6th September at 10.30.

Thank you for your interest in Five.

Yours sincerely

There were 751 episodes.

I also got that reply from Five, great news!

Now it's just a case of spreading the word to let everyone know SB is back, so it gets good viewing figures and we can enjoy the whole three years again.
