Madonna.... Amazing album tracks that could've been huge singles
People often label Madonna as a "singles artist," which I've always thought is really unjust. Of course she's got an impeccable singles record and can always pull a major hit out of the bag and make it look so easy.
It got me thinking what hidden gems are on Madonna albums that were never released, but if they had have been, they undoubtedly would have been huge hits and would sit comfortably alongside her greatest hits. Off the top of my head, a couple of 'why the hell did you never realise these,' songs.... She's Not Me, Time Stood Still, Now I'm Following You (Parts 1&2), Impressive Instant, Skin, Mother & Father. Any others?? |

White Heat was one of the best songs on True Blue. I hated most of the singles on that album other than Live to Tell

there are so many! i mean she is very much ALBUMS as well as SINGLES.
Impressive Instant Where's The Party Let It Will Be Sky Fits Heaven Skin Beat Goes On Keep It Together (mainstream release with video) Promise To Try Physical Attraction Words Why's It So Hard just to name a few that would have been massive! but to tell the truth i am glad that they weren't also because they make them more special too but these are the ones that i can envisage a video and mainstream success!

I was amazed that Impressive Instant didn't get a full release & video - amazing song and the performance of it on the Drowned World tour was brilliant.
Edited to add - if we take into account unreleased tracks/demos etc then Like A Flower & Like An Angel Passing Through My Room are my favourites. |

Dornwed World/Substitute was a phenomenal opener and then WHAM! wish it was, and the vieo would have been immense! i think she wanted it to be and WB said Amazing should have been released and then neither were and WIFLFAG was the final single from the era and album. |

Madonna is very much an albums artist, more so perhaps now she has gotten older than during the 80s but she defintley always has broad concepts for each album in some way. Take for instance, Erotica was meant to be a social commentary about sex and AIDS whilst Ray of Light is a kind of ode to motherhood.
She just gets labelled as a singles artist because there are a lot of good potenial singles on most of her albums (maybe not American Life though lol). Tracks she should have released as a single: Beat Goes On (with Kanye West - a no-brainer this one - an awesome tune); Queen of Hearts (uber-camp dance anthem); Swim (just a beautiful ambient-rock song); Keep It Together (which was a single in the US but never here in the UK - we got Dear Jessie instead); Like It Or Not (really underrated track from Confessions) Impressive Instant (would have been a more natural follow-up to Music than Don't Tell Me which I love btw) |

Talking of unreleased Madonna tracks, I hope that "Miss You" gets some sort of official release at some point, hopefully in a similar acoustic style to what's floating around online at the moment.
I'd be gutted if this track got jazzed up to become an uptempo track, which is what they did with "It's So Cool." This track started life as a simple, pretty guitar based ballad from the American Life sessions but got its official release as a pretty generic, souless bonus track during the Celebration period. |

I would love ehr to maybe to a stripped down small concert in some venues to perform acoustics of hits and new songs.....will be fantastic sets! |

From each album
Madonna Physical Attraction Like A Virgin Over and Over True Blue White Heat Where's the Party? Like A Prayer Till Death Do Us Part As a side note, I much prefer the album version of Express Yourself. Erotica None. Bedtime Stories Don't Stop Love Tried to Welcome Me |

'Amazing' or ' Impressive Instant' instead i of 'What it feels like for a girl'. American Life She should have done some sort of a video for 'Nothing Fails' in 2003. |

Impressive Instant really is a popular choice, I do wish WB let Madonna release it rather than try and push Amazing out with a live video!
![]() we could have had 5 singles from Music then :/ Music Dont Tell Me What It Feels Like... Impressive Instant & Amazing |

Impressive Instant & Amazing Thank Kabbalah that was never released- I would not have been happy with that single choice as it sounds like a poor man's Beautiful Stranger, and I think the critics would have picked up on this and run with it, especially given what a huge radio hit Beautiful Stranger was in the UK. |

Have to disagree with regards to Amazing!!

Madonna wanted a new video for Impressive Instant released to coincide with the tour and then we ended up with neither ![]() But i do love Beautiful Stranger too, it would have fit on the album too i reckon, but i feel I Deserve It or Runaway Lover would have been fantastic hits.....even Paradise would have been phenomenal on the charts! there still has been nothinv like it! |

That is the the one comes to mind first. I also wish that a bigger deal was made out of Nothing Really Matters. I love that song. Sky Fits Heaven, maybe, also. |
