I had this issue as well, normally with no one on the other end. This all stopped once i ported my normal phone number over.

Whilst your mistake was in buying a new phone from phones4u who don't have the best of reps, this may not be of their doing especially if the callers never asked for you by name.

A lot of these insurance companies will buy a contract phone with a brand new number and then call all the numbers surrounding that number as they should all also be brand new numbers

DO NOT go to Phones4u.

I went there a while back with my gf to help her get a new phone and the rep was very pushy. We agreed that me and the gf would go for a quick cuppa to think things over. About 10 minutes later, she received 2-3 calls from the rep, including one voicemail asking her to please come back and complete the sale.

We went to Carphone Warehouse and got her a Galaxy S.

Phones4u can be pushy, just stand your ground and you can get very good deals, the trick is to Stand your ground tho otherwise they will attempt to walk all over you
