Madonna - Supernatural
Anyone else remember this hidden gem?
It's probably in my top 5 of Madonna songs but it was relegated to the B side of 'Cherish'. |

i love this song so much, kinda wish it was on the Like A Prayer album before Act Of Contrition and after Spanish Eyes! it is truly fantastic!
I hope it gets (along with other neglected Madonna demos) remastered onto a CD in the near future

Madonna was on a song writing high at the time, lets hope it comes back for the next album after the not very good Hard Candy. |

Madonna doesn't really do B-sides so it's difficult to compare this, although it's a pretty descent song, but not single-worthy.
However she has made some amazing songs that have been cut from her albums and only ever seen the light of day on Youtube. One of my personal faves being 'Miss You.' I imagine the video could be the second video sequel to Take A Bow. What do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruXVoNyvNbM |

It was supposed to be a double A-Single backed with Santa Baby for Christmas 1988. Thankfully Sire saw that Santa Baby was pants and cancelled the release.

I totally agree with this and believe that Supernatural was a strong enough contender to be a single should Madonna or Warners chose to. So much unreleased material has surfaced now, that an album of rarities and B-side rejects could quite possibly be released. I see Warner Brothers actually doing this a few years down the line, just as they did when Prince left them. I'm sure they ain't finished milking the Madonna machine yet......
But a lot of demos i feel if scrubbed up a bit would be fantastic on the albums themselves! sure it makes the album longer but hey! if it is epic then the more the merrier! I mean the demos from Hard Candy and Confessions are fantastic! had they had slight tweaks on the lyrics here and there and the percussions and productions here and there. and also i love the demos from the Erotica and ROL/Music era! there are so many options! even some Pre-Madonna demos that we would like to hear (even The Breakfast Club or Emmy!) |

I think her lost gems were quite recent (yes I love keep the trance ect) but the musical wouldve been amazing! You all know the songs that have been dumped or reworked but wow what a waste. 'Is this love' is quite possibly my fave song of hers of all time. That, the original devil and easy ride in one film??? Is she kidding to have dumped the idea??
