Watching the MTV 'Spanking New Sessions' of GaGa, from when she'd just come out (I think - TFM hadn't come out yet) and it sounds like she's been told to really dumb it down :| It doesn't even sound like the same person...

I know, she grows immensely with every year that passes. It's actually kind of bizarre to think of what and where Gaga is now compared to even last year, let alone her debut.

It's one of the reasons why I've never felt there was an issue with how she changed so dramatically from the young brunette Stefani singing ballads on the piano to the gyrating blonde club kid.

She obviously has no qualms with just doing and being what she wants.

If you look at early Monster Ball 2.0 from the first UK dates in Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester then look at the later one from the HBO special you can see how much she's developed in a period of around 8 months.

In a lot of interviews from The Fame era she sounds quite stupid compared to what we've seen of her now - and with Gaga its not a question of age and growing up, because with stuff like her essays you can tell she has always been generally very intelligent. I feel she was either told in her early days to dumb herself down as part of her "vapid blonde popstar image" or its a clever act she developed herself by playing that character during her early days while moving more and more into her true self later on.

Interesting point: 2005-2006 Rihanna in interviews also sounds quite dumbed down, sweet and innocent compared to now - probably made to fit in with her image at the time before she rebelled and showed her true personality.

I've had such a good idea.

There's a lot of speculation/hope from fans that 'Americano' will be released as a single and the video will be a continuation of Telephone.

But when the sequel to Telephone arises, surely it will have to feature Beyonce? And obviously Americano is not associated with Beyonce in any way.

So how amazing would it be if Lady Gaga did release Americano (or any other song off the album) but the single was a mash-up of with a Beyonce song? It'd be like Rihanna releasing the S&M remix with Britney, except it would be mash-up rather than a remix!

This has all come from my mind, it's not an 'official rumour' or anything, and will almost certainly never happen, but it'd be so cool if it did!

She'll probably do the Americano video with Beyonce playing her character from Telephone as a cameo appearance or something

somewhere in some interview I read, she said that in early interviews she sort of put on a quirky character but quickly decided it was better just to be herself.

Wasn't it more that she was too defensive in interviews. She's always been quriky and still is but she used to be far more guarded when answering questions because she was scared that the media would try and bring her down.

Looking back to 2009 which really isn't that long ago, it's amazing how far she's come. She's gaga now.

World's biggest female pop star

If you think about it,

Britney in 2001 = Gaga in 2011 IMO

I'm glad Britney's getting her spark back though

She has come so far in only two years. She has had three albumns in two and a half years.

Lady GaGa is insirational and Born this way has to be one of the best pop albumns ever

She said that she often found herself putting on this voice as part of some sort of defence. I do think she's grown a lot since then in terms of verbalising her thoughts and generally having the confidence to actually say what she wants, but I do agree that there was an element of 'dumbing down' a bit at the start. Not entirely surprising considering the latest pop crop were pretty girl-next-door or sex kitten types (Britney, Christina, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy etc.). If she'd burst onto the scene as a takes-no-bullshit-head-bitch-in-charge meets overtly-passionate-artiste woman to the degree she is now, I doubt it would have happened so smoothly. She had to earn the right to get away with that, much like Madonna did.

With Rihanna, I think it was more down to age/maturity. Although similar age to Gaga, she's much younger mentally (or rather, Gaga is an old soul trapped in a 25 year old body). Although of course she's exploring her strength/sexuality/general place in the world, I think Gaga's outlandishness has encouraged Rihanna('s team) to follow suit. I don't know if I buy that she's all out-the-box-controversial, but if it's how she wants to express herself - by all means.

Anyways, I've said it before, but it's astounding how good her back catalog is already - only 3 years in - let alone what it will be in the future. The way she's going, she'll pull a Madonna and genuinely have a massive (probably 2 disc) greatest hits with each track being solid pop gold, and absolutely no filler-hits.

I agree with anythingtaboo said.

Regarding Rihanna, i'd say is she is more the girl you'd identify with, i.e. the more normal one (putting it bluntly) so the whole thing of exploring sexuality etc is probably the right time whereas Gaga is very mature (i bet some would disagree with that lol) but it's true. For a 25 year old it could be a 60 year old sitting there (mentally).

Gaga's great and ahead of her time, in a very good way,

To compare her with Madonna (yet AGAIN but this time in a positive light ) In my opinion Gaga, considering her personality, stage presence, intelligence and talent is very much like a young Madonna was in the 80s when she herself became a phenomenon and kept reinventing her style to constantly give the audience something unexpected. If Madge should pass the torch to anyone it should be Gaga - the constant comparisions between them clearly show that there is potential in Gaga to hopefully be able to fill Madonna's shoes in the long term.

Ditto to you both.

It's strange that Gaga is constantly compared to Madonna, but it's been decided en mass (well, on forums/media) that it's a purely negative thing. She's friggin Madonna. The lesser bitches would cut off their right arm to have a taste of her legacy and Gaga is noming her way through a nice spoonful as we speak. Of course the "copying" drama isn't good, but Gaga was compared to her long before any of that. People think they're cut from the same cloth, and that can ONLY be a good thing in the long run. Like Gaga herself said, she realised that it doesn't matter if people like/accept her now - she'll be appreciated in the future when looking back, in the same way it now is with Madonna. It wasn't all peaches and cream when she was ruling the pop dominion, something that seems to have slipped many folks' minds.

I take it everyone saw her on paul o'grady friday night?

I have to admit I wasn't so keen on 'hair' when i heard it on the album it just didn't click with me.

But after seeing her perform it on his show i have to say i now love it although i do prefer the version she does at the piano.

He's done a new parody called Polka Face, where he's done several pop songs in the style of polka.

It's very good.

If we are choosing the single it should be Marry the Night or Sheisse.

I think Marry the Night would do better than Sheisse though. My friend has heard of it and put it on his I phone.

Listening to it seemed more radio friendly than Sheisse.

I really hope that Scheisse is the single!

I don't want the radio edit to ruin it though!!
