Why do they never show a page been scrolled down on the Kindle adverts is it seamless ?

Every advert only shows a page of text but never scrolling down half or a full page

You don't "scroll" like on a computer screen, you just move to the next or previous "page"* like with a book.

This video on YouTube shows how page turning works (and will give you an idea of the speed).

*I use the word "page", but that's not really accurate because the Kindle allows you to adjust how much text fits on the screen at any one time, so depending on your personal preferences the amount of text on screen isn't likely to map directly to a page in a traditional book.

E-Ink displays aren't very good at scrolling as you sometimes end up with ghosting. Anyhow as Dave says above ebooks are literally navigated page by page so no real need to scroll, except perhaps for pdfs and webpages.

Where are you getting these from? I used to use Feedbooks' RSS scraper but they discontinued it.

Personally I use Calibre which can fetch news and send it to the Kindle.

Second for Calibre, also excellent for converting other formats to the .mobi file type for Kindle use.

And you can actually set up Calibre to email the converted newspaper to you, which is nice.

Thanks, folks! Calibre, of course!

The epub the newsfeed produced used to crash the Sony Reader, so I left off using it - I didn't twig that I could give it another try with the Kindle. And the emailing to Kindle will make it brilliant.

Thanks again!

I think the Sony readers are (were) prone to crashing a lot anyway. The latest models maybe more stable but from my experiences and those of others with the older Sony readers they weren't very stable!

Yeah, on my PRS300 all it took was to display a couple of cover pictures and it went down It took ages to restart with ~200 books, too, turning pages was just barely at the right side of acceptable... PRS600 I had before was better with loading and page turning, but it still used to crash when displaying pictures. Probably the same firmware.

And no, I don't work for Aquapac, I just own one of these bags myself and they're fantastic.”

Another vote for Aquapac
