What do you make of Iceland's food?
I sometimes shop in Iceland, arguably alot of their frozen food is pretty rubbish quality but I quite like their curries (the better quality ones not the £1 one)
Their refridgerated food is ok too such as their chicken and pasta salads etc What do you think? |

Pretty average. I prefer Farm Foods or Asda for frozen food. Farm Foods also stocks some hard to get items like Mayflower curry sauce.

Some of Farmfoods own brand products are pretty poor as well but it just happens to be the nearest shop to where I live with a decent range of frozen food. I tend to stick to the well known brands like Birds Eye, Hollands and Hovis bread when I shop there.
If there was a decent sized Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys/Morrisons a similar distance away I would use that instead as I think their own brand range is better quality plus they have a much wider range of non frozen food so it's more convenient. |

I don't have a freezer
![]() I only go in there if they have good deals on (they have massive bottles of Fairy washing up liquid for £1 at the moment so I popped into my local store yesterday!) |

We don't have an Iceland near us, so I've never been to one.
We don't really have a proper freezer either, just a tiny one with enough space for a pizza, a few fish fingers and some frozen sweetcorn. |

Even as a student I disliked their ready meals...bleurgh! Even the adverts don't make anything look appetising. But let's face it, their target audience are overweight, loose women watching, brighthouse shoppers. They do however sell some branded things cheaper than other supermarkets, but there isn't one near me so I wouldn't go out of my way to shop there just for the odd bargain or two.

Never tried their "party food" and don't think I ever want too.
I did her some fresh chocolate covered strawberrys afterwards, showed how easy it was and now she's converted. Getting her away from her coveted prawn ring is another matter. |

I've had one of their curries, pretty decent as far as ready meals are concerned. Though the next day I read a report that it had huge salt levels in it!
But that's about it. The general impression I get from reading various forums is that their food is little better than swill! |

I think Iceland food is pretty good. They do plenty of chicken strip type things which are not reformed chicken and have a variety of coatings (southernfried, bbq etc).
The frozen chicken breasts, pieces and pork stakes all are good value and cook very well. The Oriential and Indian takeaway readymeals I find are really good value and always have a nice amount of real meat (not the hideous cubed stuff you get in some ready meals). Some of the party stuff is good - the chicken platter for £5 had a lot of good chicken pieces (again not reformed) with interesting coatings. And last summer I got an amazing value BBQ meat pack from them which was fantastic. They always have a lot more variety of frozen stuff (the kind of thing you might chuck in the oven with some chips) and puddings than the supermarkets. They also do 6 free range eggs for £1. |

Very wise. My mother-in-law alwyas has this sort of thing in and one has to show willing.

I ate a lot of pizza and Birds Eye fish fingers because that was the only decent thing they sold. I live right next to a Tesco Extra now though so .
