I sometimes shop in Iceland, arguably alot of their frozen food is pretty rubbish quality but I quite like their curries (the better quality ones not the £1 one)

Their refridgerated food is ok too such as their chicken and pasta salads etc

What do you think?

Pretty average. I prefer Farm Foods or Asda for frozen food. Farm Foods also stocks some hard to get items like Mayflower curry sauce.

Some of Farmfoods own brand products are pretty poor as well but it just happens to be the nearest shop to where I live with a decent range of frozen food. I tend to stick to the well known brands like Birds Eye, Hollands and Hovis bread when I shop there.

If there was a decent sized Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys/Morrisons a similar distance away I would use that instead as I think their own brand range is better quality plus they have a much wider range of non frozen food so it's more convenient.

I don't have a freezer

I only go in there if they have good deals on (they have massive bottles of Fairy washing up liquid for £1 at the moment so I popped into my local store yesterday!)

Goodness. I just put my juice cartons in the fridge and they come out chilled.

I have a tiny freezer and all it has is a carton of ice cream in it.

My freezer is full of meat, frozen fruit and veg, bread, BBQ meats, frozen pastry etc ...... I cant imagine having to go shopping all time as you cant freeze anything. I only get to do one main food shop a month, so i have to be able to freeze stuff.

We don't have an Iceland near us, so I've never been to one.

We don't really have a proper freezer either, just a tiny one with enough space for a pizza, a few fish fingers and some frozen sweetcorn.

Even as a student I disliked their ready meals...bleurgh! Even the adverts don't make anything look appetising. But let's face it, their target audience are overweight, loose women watching, brighthouse shoppers. They do however sell some branded things cheaper than other supermarkets, but there isn't one near me so I wouldn't go out of my way to shop there just for the odd bargain or two.

Instead of asking what food they sell, why not look at their website ?

Our kitchen is weeny - we only have space for a small fridge with a freezer compartment (I can fit ice and a bottle of Absolut in the compartment - although it does need defrosting)

I do miss being able to cook in bulk and freeze portions but other than that I really do not miss having a freezer?

Very wise. My mother-in-law alwyas has this sort of thing in and one has to show willing.

I did her some fresh chocolate covered strawberrys afterwards, showed how easy it was and now she's converted.

Getting her away from her coveted prawn ring is another matter.

I've had one of their curries, pretty decent as far as ready meals are concerned. Though the next day I read a report that it had huge salt levels in it!

But that's about it. The general impression I get from reading various forums is that their food is little better than swill!

I think Iceland food is pretty good. They do plenty of chicken strip type things which are not reformed chicken and have a variety of coatings (southernfried, bbq etc).

The frozen chicken breasts, pieces and pork stakes all are good value and cook very well.
The Oriential and Indian takeaway readymeals I find are really good value and always have a nice amount of real meat (not the hideous cubed stuff you get in some ready meals).

Some of the party stuff is good - the chicken platter for £5 had a lot of good chicken pieces (again not reformed) with interesting coatings. And last summer I got an amazing value BBQ meat pack from them which was fantastic.

They always have a lot more variety of frozen stuff (the kind of thing you might chuck in the oven with some chips) and puddings than the supermarkets.

They also do 6 free range eggs for £1.

Totally agree about the chicken strips I think they are great especially the hot and spicy ones. Them in wraps with salad is a meal I really enjoy. I also love their microwave sticky toffee puddings and I always stock up on their frozen ice lollies as the kids go through them at record speed in the warmer months.

OMG, I had one of those once, it was absolutely gross, tasted horrible, not shelled properly, put me off prawns for life.

It was the only supermarket within walking distance of my house at the time so used to end up eating from there a lot. I ate a lot of pizza and Birds Eye fish fingers because that was the only decent thing they sold.

I live right next to a Tesco Extra now though so.
