Can I take my handset back?

About two weeks ago the screen on my Samsung Galaxy i9000 screen cracked because my clock fell on it. At the time, I wasn't able to afford £80 for a replacement screen so opted to just buy a handset from the Carphone Warehouse (a Nokia for £40.)

I'm now getting paid tomorrow and was thinking of using it to fix my Samsung screen. As the subject asks, would it be possible for me to return the Nokia handset and get my money back (which would then cover half the cost of fixing the Samsung)? It was my intention to originally keep Nokia as my main phone and not fix the Samsung, but I'm being drawn back to wanting a touch screen.

Just found out that I cannot get a refund - should have done my homework before posting this thread really.

It may be worth checking to see if you can claim for it on your house insurance.
