Jesus christ, you people are just...there's no other word for it, cruel. The kid is seven. Get a grip. You should honestly be ashamed of yourselves.

I've just read the whole thread and most of that is overly harsh, but when a 7 year old kid comes on in an outfit obviously chosen by the parents and a song that was probably chosen by the parents too, it's not going to get a goodd reception. He had the cute factor, but if he makes it to the semis, I can see him doing a Hollie from a couple of years ago.

They should do a We've Got Mini Talent or something like that, a cute 7 year old is always going to get through over adults with more talent.

And he wasn't in tune all the time and he also had 'hand movements' which he was trying to remember to go with the music. I wonder who's idea that was. And if a teen or adult said 'no not yet, there's more' whilst the audience was clapping and cheering they would've been booed, but he's a little kid so apparently it's fine!

Cute kid, a lot of courage and confidence but that doesn't autmatically mean he's won.

Totally agree.

Cruel?

Maybe some people used harsh words, but why sugar coat the fact that he just isn't good enough to win the competition? 7 years old or 70 years old, if you don't meet the required quota that the show set out in the first place, then you should be told so and let everyone get on with their lives.

You think adults saying that they want to choke a 7 year old, and that he's making them feel ill is acceptable?? They're the ones with the serious problems, he's 7 years old. 7! Fair enough he may not have been a very good singer but there's no need for the harsh words said on here from people who should know better, it's shocking really.

Ah, missed the "choke" comment. That of course is going way too far and out of order.

Anyway saying that "he sucks" or any sort of synonym to that however are, as blunt as it may be, correct. He wasn't a great singer, and because of that he doesn't meet the shows quota. Yet he's going through because he's "cute". I don't think it's his fault, I reckon mum probably made him do it.

But surely even if he was talented, talent at such a tender age should be nurtured and developed, instead of being thrust straight into the spotlight. That could potentially ruin the lad.

Either way, his performance wasn't a good one, and he deserved to have had a "No" because of it.

That's ageist

7, 27 57 or 77 age doesn't make you immune from criticism

But yes, some of what was said was overly harsh.

And to be fair, it doesn't actually have to be the singing that got him through - he had a cute, confident and funny personality - maybe THAT got him through. Some people are just so narrow minded.

Cute, confident and funny are just bonuses. Singing is the most important quality, and he ain't got it. If somebody tells me they're gonna sing, I wanna hear some decent vocals, regardless of how much I like them as a person.

Jedward are confident and funny. The music industry would be better off without them though.

[quote]OK, my roundup for 21st May:

- Magicians were excellent, and I am officially baffled. Hopefully they'll be more baffling in the Semis much to my glee. Bet Simon still buzzes though.

- Dogs were rubbish. Don't know why they got through.

- Pianist was excellent. Not technically the best, but the soul and musicality was brilliant. Well done sir.

- Bunch of dance acts now. "Abyss" aren't very good, as Amanda points out, they argue back. Louis think it's the most amazing thing ever. It wasn't. The world must really be coming to an end if Amanda is the only one talking sense. We then proceed to miss rush through a genuinely intriguing dance act in the Celtic Somethings. Glow in the dark is always fun.

- 7 year old singer now. Something charming about him singing Sinatra, but still not good enough to go through. Of course, being 7, he goes through by default.

- The rapping was nice by the 2 lads. Lyrically nice and not bad rappers. Bet they degrade dramatically in the semis though, rapping about boats and hoes and whatever else.

[/quote}

Agree with children and dog acts.

7 year old was crap and th cute factor (although I thought he was gobby).

Didn't leike the dance troop there were several points when someone got it wrong. Not good enough and answering back just didn't cut it with me, had the wrong tone unlike others who have answered abck.

Magicians great.

Pianist ok but nothing too great.

I liked the rappers. top effort

Can't believe no one has mentioned the pianist and the boys that did the rap. The lyrics about their grandad might have been looking for sympathy but if they can sway away from that in the later stages of the show then they could go very far for me.

Again, nothing outstanding as of yet in comparison to previous seasons which is a bit worry considering their is only one audition show to come but slowly but surely it is getting better and a decent set of acts are being assembled for the live shows. Not sure how they're going to find fifty next week though.

The kid singing My Way was poor. OK he was "only 7" and deserves credit for performing to that many people, but there is a little thing called "timing" and "singing in tune" and he wasnt good with either. In fact it was pretty awful.
Also My Way is a weird song for a 7 year old to do It was like the mum/auntie had decided the party piece he does to entertain guests will work on BGT.. errr no

Wsh parents wouldnt shove their cute kids on the stage for us to watch. Leave them at home. Only be disappointed when he doesnt get through the next round.
Also Dogs...they sometimes look terrified. Poor things, its cruelty shoving them on.

Cut out the bad, leave in the good, chopping wood, chopping wood, chopping wood

It was like something out of Monty Python!
I loved the part when he's obviously trying really hard not to sing "Robin Hood, Robin Hood"
