I'm going to Canada on Friday and was wondering if their electonics are cheaper than over here? Because i'm looking at a 1.5gb mp3 jukebox made by RiO.

Just got back myself yesterday (hence being up at silly o-clock), and it really depends where you're going. FutureShop http://www.futureshop.ca/ is their high-street electrical retailer, and London Drugs http://www.londondrugs.com/ does a fair few things in most branches.

Only problem is the tax - 7% GST (can be reclaimed as long as you take the item & receipt to Customs as you leave, must be over $50 per item & total over $200, then they send you a Canadian $ cheque in 4-6 weeks....), and state tax (0% in Alberta, 7.5% in BC). Do your shopping in Calgary if you can

I was looking at iPods, Powerbooks & the Canon EOS 'Rebel' and it didn't really work out. Plus there's always the slim chance that Customs will grab you on the way back & charge you duty...

Rgds,
Ric
