I know it's all hypothetical and mere assumptions, but I would really like to hear some opinions, since I've never been able to answer this question myself”

IMO, I think Aaliyah would be balancing a very successful movie career with her music. She already had 3 films associated her by the time she died - Romeo Must Die, Queen Of The Damned and she was linked to The Matrix. She was obviously really into the acting so I think she would have definitely continued down that route and would be very much an accomplished actress by now.
Music was her first love so no doubt she would still continue to release albums too. It's impossible to think how her music would have evolved over the years but I imagine Aaliyah would be the one setting the bar for all the others to follow. All the top producers would be falling over themselves to work with her.
Btw, I often find myself asking the same question of Lisa Lopes too

Aaliyah is my ultimate favourite artist of all time, her album was the first one I ever bought, all her songs were amazing, she had more talent in her little finger then most 'artists' these days.

I just watched the 'I Miss You (r.i.p.)' video once again.I wish more people were in it, but it's still pretty emotional.I miss Aaliyah so much and when I watch her videos, I really start thinking about where she would be now.And an interesting point that has been made by an industry expert is that while every non-factor in the US had a private jet, an icon like Aaliyah had to fly with an old airplane.PREPOSTROUS!!!!

(I also wish Toni Braxton wasn't on the video because she didn't know what the hell she was doing)

This song really gives me goosebumps. It's called 'Death Of A Playa'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJKZckOPTiI

It was included in a maxi single alongside with 'The One I Gave My Heart To' and 'Hot Like Fire'.Such a hypnotizing song.
Damn, I miss her so much!

Toni Braxton is a legend. It is good that she appeared on it.

Toni didn't know what she was doing in the clip. She was trying to look sexy, touching herself, moving her hands all over the place, stare at the camera, acting like this was her song...I don't know why she decided to do it, but it wasn't a good thing.

We can also download albums and singles-try get one to number one perhaps?

There is already a similar campaign in the US.Her fans are going to download 'One In A Million' (the song), (which is said to be her favorite from all the songs she's recorded) on iTunes to get her to No.1 on the iTunes chart.Maybe we could broaden this campaign and use it for the UK too.

Anyway, I don't have iTunes, so I'm going to download any different version of the song on Amazon.com (the US version) to try to get her in the Hot 100.It's almost shocking that 'One In A Million' never charted on the main Billboard singles chart, while it slayed every radio chart.

She spent most of the time playing with her hair I love Toni, but she just spent the whole time trying to show herself off - did she remember what the song was even about in the first place?

Exactly! And her eyes...that 'trying to be sexy' look...truly horrible. And that gesture when she said 'I Miss You'

I know - I felt like everybody else in that video were very close to Aaliyah and showed this - I can't say the same for Toni, sadly.

The US campaign to get Aaliyah to No.1 on iTunes has changed.Instead of 'One In A Million', now the song that the fans will puchase on August 25th will be 'Try Again'

(Since I was the one to mention the initial campaign, I thought I should let you know about the change)

'Rock The Boat' is rather underrated...It is the definition of a laid-back summer anthem!!!Too bad it wasn't even released in the summer I just wish that someone would cover it and make it a summer hit! This song needs more attention!

I just found this video and I thought I should post this

Aaliyah was a Britney & N'Sync fan!! Gotta love this amazing woman.I just love everything about her: the way she was joking in front of the camera, her attitude next to the 2 boys where she was so quiet and mature and still all eyes were on her. She's just amazing!! (no past tenses for me )

My favorite Aaliyah performances :
'One In A Million
'If Your Girl Only Knew'
'Try Again'
'The One I Gave My Heart To'

(I'm so thankful that Aaliyah has such a loyal fanbase. Most of her videos and performances from even 17 years ago are on YouTube )

So glad it's going to be broadcasted there too! Thanks for the info

(I still wish that there were some performances to really tribute her, but the documentary was good enough )

Well, I thought it was being broadcast. It says so on the planner, but they're showing an interview with President Obama. I could understand if it was the end of another program but it's gone on for 10 minutes...

Maybe Sky messed up.

I watched it on BET, it was good but I was a little dissapointed as most of the things they said they would show (Patti Labelle, Kelly Rowland, etc.) were cut out.

Yes, it was so disappointing!!I wanted so much more!!Well, actually I wanted performances, but even the documentary could have been much better. There were 9-10 artists that posted lovely messages about Aaliyah on August 25th, including Monica, Brandy and JoJo, so they could at least get one of those girls or all of them to talk about her.And Aaliyah had many friends in the industry, including Beyonce and Diddy, so this documentary was a small fraction of what it could have been

However, I am grateful and happy that they focused on her music and played many music videos because at the end of the day, speeches only satisfy the fans but her videos may attract some non-fans or people who didn't even know her, so they extended her legacy and they kept it alive and I'm pleased

I agree, I was so excited to watch it and it just disappeared really. Even Kevin McHale from Glee, a big-time star ATM, tweeted love for Aaliyah.

Yeah, I agree, at least people can look back on her amazing career

A LOT of people loved Aaliyah and still pay homage to her.Justin Timberlake, Drake, Ciara, Monica, Brandy...they could have invited one of those, but with Aaliyah it gets weird sometimes because there are some restrictions about her legacy that we don't know of apparently.Maybe that's why they only invited close friends and members of her family.Too bad that MTV didn't even mention her...I STILL remember Janet and Usher messing up the speech in 2011

Anyway, tributes aside, I really need a biopic!!I absolutely do!Biopic take legacies to a whole new level and Aaliyah needs that.Of course Aaliyah was a triple threat and I don't know how they'll find someone to portray her, but they can work it out if they want to
