I loved the little 7yr old boy tonight who sang "My Way" but does anyone think its unfair to pitch children of such a tender age against adults.
The kids are so cute, but if they are put through its at the expence of an adult who has probably waited and practised for years for a chance like this.
I think it would be much fairer to have 2 shows an under 15 yrs and an over 15 yrs.

They should put the best acts through regardless of age. If a young performer happens to be better than an adult performer (and let's face it, Wobbie was better than sailor pig for example) then they deserve to go through. However, noone should get to go through just for being cute. If that means crushing the dreams of a 7 year old then so be it, they might learn a valuable lesson in life.

its the cute factor a staple requirement of this format, they'll let him get to the finals, he wont win, kick off big time with a tantrum and give them the publicity from the outpouring which will follow. Like that Holly kid a few years back.

young children = creepy

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I found Wobbie totally cringeworthy, I honestly don't know how his mum etc weren't squirming in the wings. It's not like he was amazing - he wasn't even in tune most of the time, he only got through cos they didn't wanna say not to the litle guy, same way the old grandads and grandmas go through.

And no, I'm not a childhater, lol, I work with very young children, and volunteer with young families, I love kids.

But.......ugh!!

They should not have put him through for the very basis idea that he was utter crap!

He can't sing and his timing was miles out. He therefore had no talent for singing at all.

They only put through this type of rubbish as it looks like they are nice people and they don't want crying brats on TV. They can then put them all together in a group of 40 and say "Sorry that group didn't make it" and that gets them out of the mess they got themselves into.

I don't know what more to add as those are the facts of the matter

I don't even think it's right a kid singing My Way tbh.

Like louis said, he must have been the youngest kid to ever sing that song. The parents must be so proud.

That creepy kid trying to be Sinatra was crap. They've rejected far better this series.

I agree. It was all a bit creepy and he wasn't even very good. For some reason it seems that small and mediocre beats big and good

This series has been so crap it's not funny

I'll admit to loathing children but ... even by my child hating standards, Wobbie made my flesh crawl. Can't bear seeing children trying to be adults - whether that's a 6 year old girl plastered in make-up or a 7 year old boy dressed as a middle aged drunk and singing My Way (badly). He wasn't very good and that sort of cockiness is going to be slapped down badly on the live shows. I agree with the poster who was reminded of Holly, another average child performer. I don't think it's fair to set kids up for such a public fall as they don't have the strength to handle it. When I was 7, I could sing very well for my age. My Mum let me sing solos at school assemblies.

And as for the two rapping 13 year olds given the "money" slot last night ... Since when has having respect for your grandad been a talent?

This year has been dire, I think I'm only watching now to see what the punchline is - are we going to have a whole programme of talented acts next Sunday or is this really all there is?

Pushy mum relying on cuteness factor with a few scripted lines to make everyone go awww like the louis boyfriend thing. Audience laps it up everytime.

just saw your post also made me laugh, come on producers just because they are children if they are crap they should not go through, end of.(and the parents should stop pushing the poor kids too much if they are rubbish to save any upset)

Those 2 gangster speaking rap singers were dire, just as some people have said they are children, they shouldn't go through automatically and being told they were role models was awful, if my children talked as if they came from some form of gang I would be appalled

Agree with you.

It was so 'scripted' as well with him saying how his aunt 'needed a boyfriend'.

I don't dislike children or anything but he weeeeelly weeeelly annoyed me!

"Wobbie" didnt even have the cute factor. Im certain the family just want money, its normal any family would plan these things out to better their life. Hell I would do it myself.

They clearly dressed him like that with the overfitting clothes on purpose. I mean for god sake a 7 year old doesnt even dress himself probably nevermind choose to wear a black suit and bowler hat. Second the whole thing with Louis and his aunt. Sorry but no kid comes out and just says that and you can bet the family knew the "AWWWWSSS" that would go up in the audience by saying that. And we all know how influential the audience are on the show >_>

Couple all that with the fact that its a young, small kid with a funny/cute speaking voice singing my way...why the pound signs were practically appearing in his mother and aunts eyes.

Yuck. The whole act was horrible and the kid should go back to being a kid.

I'm sensing another Hollie Steel/Natalie Okri type with any kid under the age of 12 on BGT if they get through to the semis - they won't get through to the live shows, then start crying and throw a massive fit, the parents will then probably run on stage to comfort them etc. To be fair, Natalie and that other singer girl Chloe last year weren't as bad as Hollie but still, BGT should have a 12+ age limit I think to avoid further "Hollie" situations.

Hollie situation was horrible

She completely forgot the words live on air, then her pushy mum came charging on stage to get her to try again when it patently obvious she was not really ready to have another go

The Natalie/Chloe situations were just natural disappointment. Agree about Holly though, she was a little brat.

With all the (not remotely) cute kids that we see going through, how many are being pushed by their parents to get on that stage only to be rejected? I honestly don't know what is going through the parents' minds. If your child shows signs of talent at such a young age, wouldn't you nurture it carefully rather than throwing him or her out in front of a massive audience and potential appearance on a very daunting live TV show?

This programme needs a lower age limit.
