"The TARDIS does something we haven't seen before."

What could that have been because as far as I am aware it just sunk in the ground or did I miss something?

Maybe leaving a trail like a comet as it flew through the storm - I don't recall seeing that before - or sinking into the soil because of acid leaking from a burst pipe next to a monstery - that's a new one on me - or maybe doing whatever the Doctor said it was doinf when Rory said something like "my stomach feels funny" - no idea what either of them actually said cos the msuic swamped the dialogue - again - or maybe the klaxxon when they "landed" (not sure about that?)

About the klaxon, why was this sound used instead of the cloister bell?

A ganger Doctor inside a ganger TARDIS, all that would be needed then was a ganger Rory and a ganger Amy and you could create whole episodes on the Gangers and the audience wouldn't know which set of TARDIS crew they were watching!
