I wear jeans when it's super hot out, as the legs area allows some air to flow through. Always wear a jacket of sorts too to protect my arms, and a hat.

I feel sorry for very young kids wearing very little in Summer heat when the sun could affect their bareness so easily.

Unless you have rolls of fat on display in a top that is three sizes too small for you, I can't see the problem.

I seriously couldn't care less if people in their 20s, 50s or 90s decide to wear jeans, tweed, polyester or leather.

I think the main thing is to know what suits you, and to not look downright silly. Somehow Jeremy Clarkson springs to mind. That is seriously NOT a good look.

Don't you mean that you're wearing a nappy AGAIN? The stylish nappy never goes out of fashion.

Depends on what colour pvc though. Pink would look good, but somehow white wouldn't suit, although yellow would.

I agree. There's an elderly lady who I think is in her 90s and goes to the same hairdresser as I do, and she wears exactly what she likes and looks amazing. Definitely NO tweeds or polyester!

yeah, sun's rays not good for people. My friend got skin melanoma and died from it some years ago.

I still remember that wee girl I saw last summer on the hottest day, looking very uncomfortable, wearing a dress and a hat which didn't shade her face properly in her dad's arms with the sun full on her.

I was geared against the sun's rays, and could deal with the heat very well right through last summer.

I'm 32, and own an adult babygrow....

But she was still able to wear high heels.

My ma always wore a higher heel and she looked good in them. Flat shoes wouldn't have suited her, and she was 73.

That reminds me of my one time neighbour, who used to wear something similar, and it looked good on her, showed up her hair colour very well.

Surely if you look good in something age is irrelevant. I've seen some right fat, ugly twenty year olds in mini skirts while Elle MacPherson is in her forties and looks spectacular. Who has my support?

People from all eras, just wear what they used to wear when they were younger. So my Grandads often wore cardigans, that were popular in the 50s. Ive always worn black jeans and black t shirts, since the 80's. I suppose, you'd look a bit silly wearing something that was at the cutting edge of fashion at its time, ie wearing glittery platforms might have been of its time, but in general you can get away with anything.

I don't subscribe to the theory that you are ever too old to wear anything.

Ugh I hate polyester, I would never wear anything made of it. When I'm 40 I'm still going to be wearing the same clothes I wear now (or something like them if they don't fit).

I couldn't care less if something is age appropriate or not. All through the years i gave up wearing certain clothes because i do not have the body them anymore, never because i think they have an age limit.

Hot pants and cropped top are out of the question for me now , but they should also be out of the question for some 20 year olds i see passing by.

I couldn't give a stuff.... I dress for myself, not for others.

I am over 30 and have recently rediscovered the delights of hotpants. Always with a good pair of tights, though.

I find that I am far more confident in my looks now that I am older, and I enjoy fashion much more.

And nowadays grandads are the same age as The Beatles (or them left alive) - so they were the first generation to wear jeans. I'm always a bit disappointed not to see more grandads in jeans. (My grandad still wore shorts aged 71, in summer. He looked fine too but then he was super healthy and outdoorsy).

At the weekend we saw a grandad in a speed boat bombing up and down the river. It looked great fun. And got chatting to another one bombing along on his 1960's racing bike.

Mutton dressed as lamb can be a bit embarrassing, but it's almost worse to look like a Jehovah's Witness librarian when you're 23. Most women my generation seem half the size of younger women now so can get away with wearing better clothes than them, too. T.K. Maxx is a wonderful place.
