Matt Smith is on the One Show right now on BBC1 if you aren't watching it. He says the cliffhanger at the end of "The Almost People" is a "Whopper"!

And what a terrific clip of the two doctors talking about what to do next...

Oh indeed! The Doctor does like his own voice at times doesn't he.

Spoiler
Amy getting kidnapped
is not really a whopper cliffhanger.

Guess it all depends on who does the

until you see how it plays out you can't possibly know it's not a whooper of a cliffhanger, tbh, Salford. Just knowing one element of it on it's own is meaningless out of context.

possibly Matt, having actually seen the episode, will be better informed than anyone here.

A Whopper?

There you go, we now know it's the
Spoiler
Burger King
that kidnaps Amy.

It'll probably turn out:

Spoiler
Amy is actually a flesh clone, and has been since Day of the moon. The Silence took her, and when we next see her in the proto Tardis thing it is the clone version. That would explain the operation table and the pipe with slime on it (possibly flesh), and the real Amy is being kept in some sort of prison, with her thoughts being transferred to the clone, like her prison warden watching her through the hatch to her cell.

Looks like The Doc's shoes are gonna be a huge factor in the next ep.

It probably has something to do with
Spoiler
In episode 8 there are 2 amys! I think she gets kidnapped and also has a ganger made.

So is the upcoming episode the last one before the mid season break?

No, one more after this.

As that was in the official BBC release, we can safely assume that is not all there is to it...

If the suggestions in this thread are right, sounds good. I'd like to add some ideas that round things up nicely. Put in spoilers as contains some elements that I think are fact.

Spoiler
Silents kidnap Amy during DotM and replace her with the Ganger that was in their Tardis

Ganger Amy isn't pregnant, but the Tardis is reading real Amy's pregnancy, and Ganger Amy's non-pregnancy

The Silents are holding real Amy in 1969, where she eventually gives birth to the little girl in TIA/DotM. This explains the photograph in the children's home

The girl is taken to the children's home to be looked after. The spacesuit actually advances her age at an increased rate, and protects her from any illness etc children tend to succumb to.

The reason the girl regenerates is either and effect of being conceived during time travel, or likely The Silents somehow extracted The Doctor's DNA and impregnated Amy with it at some earlier point (Amy wouldn't remember them doing so). Or Ganger Doctor travels in time, makes a deal with The Silents and impregnates Amy. Either way that would explain Moffat's 'changing the nature of the relationship between The Doctor and Amy.

The Silents reason for doing this was to create a new race of Time Lords completely under their control.

Who the little girl regenerates into is yet to be discovered.

Probably way off, but not a bad attempt.

Thanks tysonstorm I wasn't aware that Amy got kidnapped, you might have wanted to spoiler that part too.

Have you been keeping away from the press-releases too then?

As it's been officially released by the BBC, it's not really fair to get angry at tyson.

My rule: If it hasn't happened yet, put it in tags. No harm in being careful.

Not everybody reads press releases etc

That's your rule - mine too, to be honest - but it's a courtesy. If it's in the public domain officially, it's not technically a spoiler - it's a teaser. Those who are sensitive to that kind of information are in the minority.

If the BBC have released the information, then it's because that'e their enticement for the viewers. The fact that
Spoiler
Amy gets kidnapped
is clearly not all the story - otherwise they wouldn't have released the information.

It's the climax of an episode, can't really be called a teaser can it? I don't understand why the BBC would release that sort of information prior to this weeks episode.

The Ashes to Ashes team used to advise fans not to read those BBC episode summaries because they gave away too much.

Okay,
Spoiler
so she's been kidnapped...Who did it? How? Why? Is it pivotal to the plot, or is it just a means to move the action on? Is it related to the Silence? Is it related to her pregnancy? There are more besides - but they are gleaned from spoilers, so I shan't put them here.

It is just a teaser - we only know a tiny little piece of the information, and the rest we can only guess. That makes me want to watch it more.

It's done its job - teased me with a little bit of information, now I really want to know more...

Also, it being the climax of an episode is a spoiler - that wasn't known widely! You might have wanted to put that in spoilers...

But what if it is just that
Spoiler
randomly at the end of the episode Amy just gets kidnapped we dont know why or who by and then the episode finishes. If that does happen the episode would have been spoiled because nothing that I didn't know happened.
Would you have openly told people on the forum that The Doctor regenerates in The Impossible Astronaut because the pictures were released by the BBC because that would have spoiled it for a lot of people. A lot were complaining last week that the cliffhanger for The Rebel Flesh was spoiled because the BBC released a picture of the ganger Doctor.
