Have just purchased a Plasma TV Full HD (1080p) I subscribe to SKY-HD Sports and Movies package. I am after advice on how best to do my setup for the best picture quality. My room is pretty dark all day due to heavy curtains. The TV is approx 7 foot away from where I am viewing. Thanks for your reply's in advance.

It is TV dependant and you will probably find more on your specific TV at AVForums however as a Panny Plasma owner. ...

On Panasonic Plasmas the ULTIMATE Brightness level can be achieved by displaying a jet black screen and turning up the brightness until green speckles start appearing - turn down a click or to so they disappear. (usually around 32-25 clicks right from zero/ mid way ish)
That gives you the TV's optimal Black and shadow level.

Contrast is subjective but no more than 2/3rds the way up.

Cinema setting is probably best for your dark room.
