Sony post £554m loss for last quarter

In addition to their woes arising from leaked customer details, their results don't look too rosy either.

I wonder if this will lead to some cost cutting and more sharing / outsourcing of manufacturing.

I would suspect that Sony is already a fairly lean and diversified operation. Do you think there's much room for further cost cutting?

Don't forget, the Japanese economy was having a really tough time for pretty much the entire 90's, only really climbing to positive growth in 2002 before being hammered again in Q2 of 2008 with the world crash. High commodities prices due to China and India's manufacturing base growth plus the knock on effect to components supplies in the home market from the recent earthquake won't have helped either.
