This forum seems very quiet this year.

I wonder why? It's certainly a lot less busy than the last couple of series, even in their early stages. Have ratings dropped, I wonder?

Not sure.
Maybe it's too soon after the previous series.
Although I'm enjoying it very much, I'm struggling to get excited atm.
I don't even know all their names yet, which is unusual for me.
Maybe it's all getting a bit stale now, after all, we are seeing the same old tasks over and over again.
Also I think Karren Brady is a very poor replacement for the Marvelous Margaret Mountford which doesn't help.

I haven't posted much since I joined but there isn't much to talk about this series. The news about it even on other sites I frequent just isn't there. I like to lurk in the episode threads and there are lots of people in them discussing the show as it happens, but they don't wander off into the other threads (mainly because they are just 'do you like ___'?).

We all went missing looking for the mythical page 40 from last week's show thread - it was like an episode of Lost, but sadly without Sawyer to perve on.

There seemed more 'big' characters last year - even though some were clearly not 'credible' as winners. It feels more like the early few series to me - not necessarily a bad thing.

Totally agree with this.

And about the ratings, those are very good (better then last series and the opening was the second best behind series 5).

Possibly cos people are tweeting more and more? Tweets are fine for some things but personally I prefer the forums and message boards for shows like the Apprentice.

In general I have found a dip in the posts on the forums I like on DS, shame.

Ah. I thought there might be a correlation between lower ratings and the forum being less busy but I guess not.

That might be it! But, like you, I prefer forum discussion.

I've found that Digital Spy is a lot less busy than it used to be, across the board. It used to be more vital and fast-moving, now it's gone kinda sluggish. Shame.

I pledge to post a lot more in the threads that reside in this forum and across the other DS forums. Signed: Sludge

Tweeting is stupid, you can only tweet amongst your 'followers' .... not exactly the best way to get your message to a wider audience.

I find the concept of twitter stupid anyway, its just there to soothe our ego that somebody cares we had an orange for breakfast today.

That's what trending topics and hash tags are for. Tweet something profound and interesting and you can find it's retweeted and read by hundreds or even thousands of people.

Tonight's episode didn't hold my attention at all tonight. I'm not even watching 'You're Fired'. Beginning to understand why the board is so slow this year...

The bit I bolded is a good point, and the rest I agree with. I sense a general move away from forums towards twitter and facebook et al, across the board. Personally, I can't get excited about posting on those platforms, though I do follow a few twitter people. I much prefer forums myself.

I think it's the blandest set of candidates to appear on The Apprentice, possibly ever. Bland doesn't mean they're not capable but it doesn't make for very exciting tv. I think Vincent is the most entertaining candidate. Tom is quite amusing too. He seems like he's trying to be so nice but nice rarely means success in the business world.

Hopefully next series they'll find some really outrageous, arrogant, self-absorbed candidates. It does make the show a lot more interesting when the candidates are totally over-the-top in believing they're the best candidates ever. This current lot are a bit too conservative by comparison! Stuart Baggs from last series, James McQuillan from 2009, Debra Barr from 2009, Ben 'could have gone to Sandhurst' Clarke from 2009, Phillip 'pantsman' Taylor from 2009, - over-the-top characters, memorable. None from this series compare with them. When I think about it, 2009 series may have been the all-time best series in terms of fun to watch candidates. 2011 vs 2009 candidates, you can't compare them. 2011 are dull compared to that year.

I still haven't got to grips with all their names and, with one or two exceptions, don't find them very interesting characters. Usually there are people who are funny and likeable, even if they don't win. I've felt pretty ambivalent about this lot.

Still a fairly good show though, worth watching.

2009 is probably the best series in terms of candidates and personalities. Having said that, we're not half way though the 2011 series so things can get a bit more exciting but I just don't see this lot being that interesting to watch. The show is still entertaining but the candidates don't seem that memorable. This may be due to the show getting a bit repetitive?

As a piece of entertainment maybe, but as a show the first two seasons have never been bettered IMO.

It used to be a much better mixture of business and personalities.

This series needs a few more arguments or some outrageous decisions made that really annoy some of the candidates. It's possible this year the candidates are too nice! Time to bring out the daggers.

I've actually enjoyed the first two episodes, and this one, more than usual. On the other hand, I'm not putting as much effort into posting because it has started to seem too much like hard work.

Agree with this thread. When I came on DS for the first time last week for the Apprentice this forum was alot quieter than normal for the end of an episode and there is alot less discussion than usual. The quality of the forum is still pretty good and less threads makes for less repetition but it's bloody quiet for when the show is on.
