MP3 Player with File Management.

Hi there,

I want to be able to delete music I dont like (after I have listened to it) on the go. Most MP3 Players dont seem to allow this?

Alternatively, I'd be happy with something which would allow be to mark songs for deletion when out and about, so it'd be straightforward to identify which files to delete later when I'm at the computer. I believe the iPod allows this (you can mark music as one star so you can then delete these later)? But I'm not that keen on iPods as I dont like iTunes.

Can anyone suggest a solution please?

Most phones with mp3 capability let you delete them. Many also have a rating feature so music you like gets played more often than not.

You're right. I think my phone allows you to delete files. However, I dont really like using my phone as an Mp3 player as it runs down the battery. But I guess that this is the only way to go?

There are players that let you delete for example Zune, but they're not cheap and not many people these days are willing to shell out on high-end mp3 players.

Sansa Clip+ will let you delete files. (EDIT: cheap too )

Anything running Rockbox will too.

Thanks for all replies. Been doing a bit more research.

I quite like the Zune (build quality, RDS).Dont like the price. But its similar to the iPhone I think - deleting music without a computer is tricky.

Fewer features on the Sansa Clip +. but for the price it looks good. Probably go for that or the Samsung Q3.

I don't have a zune. I have a windows phone though which works with the Zune software and the music hub on the phone is very similar to what's on the zune players. You can definitely delete tracks on the device itself. I can also "heart" and "break-heart" so more of the music I like gets played and less of what I don't like.

It's especially relevant when using the Smart DJ feature which makes a playlist for you of songs out of your library based on you telling it a song or two. If you have the Zune Pass (music subcription service) you can download/stream songs on the PC, the Xbox 360 and on Zune/Windows Phone and you can use the Zune Pass in conjunction with the Smart DJ feature and it will introduce you to new music that it thinks you will like (based on your hearts and what's in your library).
