Neighbours Omnibus
Was there ever a Neighbours omnibus? If not, why not?
This is a show that can get up to 4 million viewers per early evening episode and probably over 1 million after the lunchtime news. I think there should be an omnibus edition on a Saturday or a Sunday. I reckon BBC One on a Saturday/late Sunday morning would be a good time. Any other Neighbours viewers feel this could/should be considered by the BBC? |

No.
And since when did the episodes start having individual titles. The show has gone downhill in recent years. And it was pretty crap to start with! |

It's not that bad, the problem is it has to maintain a balance of drama and comedy, something that doesn't always work so well, plus it needs a larger budget.

I put my vote to an omnibus too, every other soap has one and its not as if the BBC don't have enough channels now...
Although this year I haven't liked how they've spiced up the characters making Harold a perv, Susan interesting etc Bring back nice Neighbours where everyone likes each other, unlike in real life...

then they have a illness and turn into the oposit character. pretty normal stuff I think I'll agree. They then redo the Amnesia story again with another character only not taking on so long. I'm just waiting for Dee to turn up again, it must happen! Neighbours in my opinion is in the duldrums again, you need a commedy couple living in the sreet, (Des & Daphnie, Willis, and in later years the Kennedy's) that house has been great, also you need the bickering, and the true friends, but they seem to have lost all that. maybe it's me, and soaps do have cycles, I'm sure it'll get better, and the story for the end of the year in Oz sounds good too. |

It has improved so much in recent years. 1999 - 2002 was an awful period. But when the 2003 season started things really improved and ratings are now on the up.

News flash, it happens ! Some people disappear too, you know. Some things happen more than once, in fact everything happens more than once. Strokes can change your personality, like Alzheimer's... If you only want normal stuff, don't watch TV. Isn't your life enough ? Maybe they should air some supermarket CCTV footage instead just you, I think you'd like that. Why would you get all worked up about Harold's changed personality ? Just to be safe maybe you should choose an episode you liked and watch it everyday instead of the normal broadcast. As far as I can see, program-makers are damned if they do and damded if they don't. |

I think Harold Bishop’s return was needed to keep an “old” aspect to the cast, because at the time it is possible that the writers sensed Anne Haddy wasn’t going to be around much longer as Helen Daniels, so Harold and Madge were brought back to try and fill and gap left by her. As far as Harolds amnesia and recovery are concerned, I find the storyline totally believable.

I know people get amnesia, but I find it hard that these story's are rearly mentioned again.
And as for the Harold story, I'm sory but if someone dissapeared out to sea, then had started anopther life, Then gets his all his memory back after (5-7 years) . Strokes can change your personality, but not so completly in my experience. As for isn't my life enough, well I don't spend 2.5 hours a week watching Neighbours now, so that's something I've gained, TV is turning into a real minority of my spare time, and from what I've seen over the last couple of years that's possibly a good thing. I stoped watching it before when it hit a low point. As I said Soaps go in these cycles, and that can only be expected certain characters you won't adjust too, and so you find that you don't care about the show. These are just my opinions which is what this forum is about, isn't it? |

Crystal, you've got the wrong attitude, there's no holy rule that says Neighbours must 100% realistic.
Moreover, being back in familiar surroundings can help you get your memory back. And the old Harold wasn't necessarily the real Harold, I mean how many times did you watch him and think 'Is he for real' ? And if you watch now you'll find that he's almot back to what he used to be. What's more it was one of these comedy storylines FICTION allows you to do, don't you like having fun or something ? |

Would you rather that Harold had remained at the Coffee Shop for five years serving up milkshakes (realistic) or have something a bit out of the ordinary with him disappearing then returning...I know which would make better viewing for me... |

MSF I love having Fun.
I was just giving my opinion. Now I can't answer this question as I don't watch the show enough now, but Does Harold or any one else in Ramsey Street, ever mention his amnesia, or the Stroke? I would hope they would! I resign to the fact that we're going to see different opinions on this one. Neighbours has always been quite removed from a normal soap, I accept that, and that was some of it's charm, but for me they sometimes go over the top, and take it too far. Also another question for the die hard fans here. Do you rate the new arrivals, The Bishops, another one of Toadies Cousins, etc as good fit in's or not? |

I find David to be too much like Harold and Liljana is OK, Serena is "just another Neighbours teen" for me. Scott, or should I say "Stingray" is a good addition though... |

Makes Sence, I have seen a couple in last month or two and I didn't find them too convincing as a family, (although I couldn't put my fingure on why!)
