I might have to watch it again. But from what I recall they gave all the money that half of the team had on them.

The tea was the last item that group bought, and yes, she did offer that crazy woman all the money they had left .... in a very bleaty whiny voice.

Susan always puts herself forward, but has little of substance to offer in my opinion. She reminds me of an over excited colt.

Zoe on the other hand seems to be emerging from her wall of silence of the first two weeks. I think she showed great awareness to reign Susan in on the product buying. Most people would have listened to the so called expert.

She also did the foot massages and seemed to interact very well with her customers. I also think she was totally right to remind Susan that she said she was a great seller ..... Susan had nothing to back up her outlandish claims.

Zoe could well be one to watch ...... dare I say it .... she has a Badger - like possibility about her.

Regardless of which, you cannot deny that it was Susan that actually got them the tanning products which was the winning product for the team. The other team had a much better sales force with the likes of Jim, Melody and Vincent but sold far less.

Zoe's team didn't even seem to have that much stock left over at the end of the day. She was just using Susan as a scapegoat and demotivating her team as Leon said.

Of course Susan secured the tanning products for her team since she was the only person with experience in the cosmetics market. She had no competition.

And there was 80 quids worth of surplus stock at the end (if I remember correctly) and if Susan had got her way there'd have been even more. To imply she was being blamed for other people's mistakes (by labeling Susan a scapegoat) is incorrect I think. The criticism leveled at her was justified even though the manner in which it was delivered was a bit mean and nasty.

It seems that people are all too quick to criticise and downplay anything good the candidates do. Susan also suggested the foot products which sold well. And the 80 quid worth of stock left over included other stuff as well, not just the tanning products.

That team would have lost without Susan. The criticism was completely unnecessary in the middle of the shopping centre, they had just started selling, wasn't even the end of the day or something. What did it even achieve other than cause tension in the group?

Obviously establishing a scapegoat.

That last bit must have taken courage and integrity. It would have been easy to let Susan have her way, and take the credit as PM if they won or let Susan get fired if they lost. Since Susan was the acknowledged expert on the subject, I doubt anyone would have blamed Zoe for taking her advice.

I was quite impressed by Zoe.”

Thought Zoe was useless, doing everything Susan says then blaming her if anything goes wrong.

Her voice is depressing too.

Zoe, Natasha and Helen have all shown a nasty side to their nature.

Obviously events proved Susan wrong, but as Susan said, with four people selling in the amount of hours they had they only had to sell two each an hour to get them all sold. It wasn't a preposterous idea.

I also wonder with four people selling, how is it they couldnt sell more. They seem to manage very well on food tasks to sell well, so why was this so difficult. I think they should have got dressed up as well. These products are not very dear, and there doesnt seem to be much excuse.

The other team also recognised that the tanning product was the item to have, so there was competition. In the end, the tanning product was given to Zoe's team because they showed more enthusiasm for it than Felicity's team, and many of the contestants said that was mostly due to Susan.

How many times have we watched teams go for the same product and have the team that's shown more passion for the product and built a better rapport with the decision maker win it? And often picking and winning the right product is vital in winning the task overall.

They should have been focusing their sales on treatments.

Food and beauty products are completely different so they can't really be compared...a lot more people are going to want food during lunch time than to buy a random product that either a) they don't want b) if they do want, they've probably already got. Plus there's the issue of 'does this work well, is it a quality product', especially when it come to tanning products where there tends to be quite a lot of brand loyalty, whereas food is just food and doesn't cost as much therefore there's a higher chance of an impulse buy. That's why the two cannot be approached in the same way and Susan really shouldn't have assumed they'd each consistently be able to sell 2 an hour (8 an hour) in the same spot from passers by.

It's hardly a stroke of mastery or display of aptitude. She just naturally had more enthusiasm because it's an industry she's familiar with. I think the point some people are making is that it's hardly praise-worthy. Plus everyone realised the importance of snagging the tanning products to sell which is why the other team really wanted it as well. Again Susan wasn't the only 'genius' to figure out this is the product that would sell well. It's also worth noting that if Zoe didn't reign her in, they could've have lost in spite of their great advantage and one can't always rely on their competition being so disastrous (if Felicity had been at least a little bit competent it could've been close and Zoe's team could've even lost). Sir Alan even praised Zoe for taking control when she needed to.

But it's easy to show you have passion for a cosmetics/beauty product if you already have a successful business in the industry. Would Susan have shown as much enthusiasm if the products being pitched were DIY tools? I doubt it.

No one on the other team had the same amount of experience in this field, so they were never going to win the deal. It was a stroke of luck that this particular task revolved around Susan's own area of interest and the tanning people would have been daft to have gone with anyone else.

I have already written that the name of the game is to show great passion for every single product. You never know which one you will want. I also dont know what harm can be done if both have the same products. If anything it makes the task fairer. That is what is wrong with these would be business people, they have shown in every task that they have no idea of strategy. I still think Susan was right. Four people to sell two products each an hour when there are thousands of people cant be too difficult. I always wonder, what if they had to pay rent for the place even for a day and wages for so many people who in this task seemed to be nothing, there would be a loss every time.

True, but Zoe never made that argument. She seemed solely concerned over whether they could sell that many products, so she was no less culpable than Susan in that respect.

But then Susan probably did understand that. They had sold much more than 2 portions an hour in the food selling task.

It was fake tan. To buy it involves trust and discretion. Trust because you don't want something that will turn you orange or otherwise look ridiculous, or even fake. Discretion because it's supposed to make people think you have a real tan; you don't want everyone to know you use fake.

So not a good fit for The Apprentice. Usually people want to be seen on camera, but no-one would want to be seen buying fake tan on camera. It'd be embarrassing; you'd never live it down. And I think people would be suspicious of whether the candidates were competent enough to have a decent product. I'd wonder if they'd made it themselves. Even if they hadn't, I wouldn't trust anything they said about it because we know they will lie through their teeth when they are selling.

Yes, although the post was more in response to someone saying they didn't understand why Susan did well in the first task and not this one.
