Difficult because I can do a meat version of both for hubby & veggie for me - decisions?

Vegetable tagine & Cous Cous ( tonight's dinner)

Roast dinners always remind me of my MIL in Turkey - as my hubby asked, I cooked a beautiful ( if I say so myself) roast chicken dinner & gravy for them & made a soya cottage pie for myself. God, my MIL looked like I'd poisened her & laughed in disbelief when hubby went in for seconds! ( I even found sprouts out there). Next day I thought I'd just reheat the veg & roast pot etc - no where to be found! We had olive oil ladened okra - love okra can't digest oil due to my stomach. Looked for the dinner - MiL had put it outside, under the table on the balcony - she didn't like it as you can't put the 'best sauce in the world' over it - yoghurt! even my hubby went mad, I had a complex and the food went in the bin!
No more! I'm in charge of my kitchen out there come Christmas (non to them). Roll on tomato soup, roast veg, food you can't always put yoghurt on! only problem, diabetic ( non abiding btw) sister in law, now lives underneath us, but I've told hubby - it's spice all the way as an Indian food loving veggie - forget gallons of flipping olive oil! it literally makes me vomit, I can't digest it. This should be fun as we're buying a fridge:freezer to complete our own kitchen now & I refuse cheese, olives & too much bread due to calories plus being a low fat eating veggie, they'll despair!

Afternoon all!

Hi sixty nine! I used to make a lot of the boiled cake years ago but my late Aunt gave me a great recipe which I don't have anymore as both my Mum & Aunt ( her younger sister) died within 36 hrs of each other 18 yrs ago, so I'm looking for the nearest recipe tbh - it had mixed fruit, butter, sugar, flour, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg etc - so nothing special like cherries. Although, these days dried cranberries might be nice. I guess you could chop & change the fruit.

Sounds really nice. You must post it once you find one to match it!
