Finlux problem

I wonder if someone can help with a technical issue that has me completely stumped.

My mother bought a lovely Finlux 40'' LED TV recently. (model FIN40840SLED).

She is really happy with it apart from one thing.......when she leaves it in stand-by mode.........it turns itself on !

She comes back from the shops....it's on........she awakes at 3am.... it's on .....I have never known this with a TV before.

I have read through the manual and cannot find a reference to why or how this can happen.

Can anyone out there help my dear old Mum !

Regards

Keith.

A number of things it could be.

Check to make sure no 'wake up' timers have been set - don't know if this set has that kind of function, but check.

Also, check devices attached to it (e.g. PVR or SKY box) since a signal down a SCART can turn a tv on.....

You should probably be aware that Finlux isn't a manufacturer as such http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finlux

instead the brand is owned by Vestel so is very much budget end and a virtually identical set may exist, potentially under any of the following brands: Bush, Alba, Digihome, Grundig, Technika. Not sure who stocks Vestel under the Finlux brand...

Actually it's not owned by Vestel, it's owned by Euronics - who get Vestel to manufacture the sets for them.

Coming out of standby sounds the sort of problem that requires a software update?.

I don't want to be a know-it-all but it is actually owned by Vestel.

I was under the impression that Euronics bought the rights to the name?, I didn't pay that much attention at the time, but I've seen documents where it was been discussed (there were a number of potential names available, and Finlux was the one decided on).

From a Vestel company report:

Quote:
“Vestel is also currently manufacturing under the “Finlux” and “Luxor” names-two brands
which are highly visible in Scandinavian and Northern European countries and which
the group acquired in 2006.”

Presumably then Euronics bought the UK rights FROM Vestel? - and the sets are made by Vestel to Euronics specifications (again, I've seen the documents discussing what exact spec they want building).

They probably have, Finlux has no UK website.
