Ellie might not have thought she deserved to be brought in, but Felicity had a perfectly sensible argument for doing so. She and Melody had been sitting up there in the treatment area doing nothing, and while Felicity should have been more on top of this (indeed ,Felicity was most culpable for this and did deserve to be fired) it's arguable Ellie could have been more proactive about this.
If not her, then who? Tom was partly culpable over not pressing home the point about the inactivity of the treatment side, but then he had the fact that he had pointed out the problems over location to fall back on. She had to bring in someone.
I don't think it got so very bitter. I've seen people hug and say goodbye after worse boardrooms than that.
