RUSHING to reply only two months later, so it is.

Pleased (which is why I dipped back here) and a little surprised to see Shabby staying with Nathan and Rachael and saying what lovely hosts they are. I always like unexpected friendships.

Really glad to see the friendship between Shabby and Ben on Twitter - I was always sad that did not emerge sooner in the house

Yes, I saw that. I think Shabby has calmed down a LOT since BB - she sounds positively philosophical these days.

Legend In Japan - Barefoot Festival 2012 (Shabby and Pyro talking)

Legend in Japan at Barefoot festival, Loughborough, 27/07/12 (performing, almost inaudibly)

Legend In Japan - Absent Friends (barefoot festival mentioned, sound still poor)

(There are more. Search and you will find.)

Finally, this: Save Me by Shabby Katchadourian 'cause it takes me back in time, like totally.
To the point where it's a strange - sort - of - experience.

And what reminds me, somehow, of that, is this: joe kingman 'breakin in my heart'

Yes, true. Oddly haunting for various reasons.

LIJ a bit uncompromisingly punky for me at the moment: http://www.reverbnation.com/legendinjapan - though on Give em an Inch she has an unexpectedly blues sound to her voice. Give her five years and she'll be deborah Bonham.

It's a sad day when this thread has to rely on me for news.

ANYway:

A gig in February: http://thegarage.co.uk/listings/upco...gend-in-japan/

And it says (among other things):

Quote:
“But now is no time to rest…the band released their eagerly anticipated debut 5 track EP ‘Welcome to the Pity Party’ on November 8th with a sold out supercharged launch show at The Macbeth in Hoxton. With the band having already been confirmed for Rebellion 2013 and embarking on their first nationwide tour in February….2013 looks set to be a landmark year for this hard-gigging London punk four-piece.”

However, I can find no sign of said EP on Amazon.

I don't know what it's about. However, looking on youtube, I found this presumably unrelated clip:

Legend in Japan - "Agitation! Propaganda!" Official Music Video Exclusive!

(Click on "Show more" to see a lot more about the song, etc, including lyrics.)

And this:

TLT Unplugged - Legend in Japan

Both clips come in HQ versions and have good sound quality.

More clips:

TLT Unplugged - Red and Pink

Legend In Japan - Give Em An Inch (promo)

Legend In Japan - Victory Victory (promo)

So High - Legend In Japan (Still pic with sound)

Legend In Japan - Live on TV, Dial M (confused my browser, but I was eventually able to watch and listen)

Quote:
“Debut TV performance by Legend In Japan on Dial M for Loaded TV. From 02:28 the band play 3 songs: 'Agitation! Propaganda!' 'So High' & 'Give 'Em An Inch'.”

Good finds. Two years on and the Say You Love Me video does seem a bit everything-but-the-kitchen-sink. I seem to remember that they didn't like it much themselves. The black and white live footage works much better.

YOu could do a very clunky 'links game with Shabby, whose brother has made a film with Honey Bane (who I remember from FOREVER back when she was only a teenager), who has also made a film with Donny Tourette.... There MUST be some connection I can contrive between Donny Tourette and Shabby to make the circle...

I'm liking the Legends' songs better now that I seen clips with better sound quality, but I still prefer the VH songs. I think "Say you love me" was one of the worst of them, though, and that they made a mistake in picking it. I'm not sure whether Legends is in the same direction as "Say you love me" or not.

Perhaps it will just take some more listens before I get into the Legends stuff.

I was really surprised when they chose Say You Love Me as their single, but I liked the final arrangement of it.

I found the choice of "Say You Love Me" very frustrating. They had any number of (imo) better songs; "Say" was atypical (they even said themselves it wasn't what they usually did) and so wouldn't give listeners a good idea of what they were like; and "Say" replaced their earlier choice of single (which I think was "Sleep Produces Monsters") almost as soon as "Say" appeared, for reasons that were unclear.

Yes, Sleep Produces Monsters was a stronger song, definitely.
