These weren't very good performances, musically, but the picture quality is pretty good such things go.

Hmmm, possibly the least atmospheric venue ever. Threads still sounds good though even against what sounds the like background noise an entire high school would make fighting for places on a train.

No. I used a "Lifeline" link because it was one of the things Youtube suggested, because the clip was of watchable quality, and because "Lifeline" is imo one of their best songs.

OTOH, she listed 4 songs, and if "Say you love me" is the 5th ...

I hope that (those 4 + "Say") isn't their list for the album, because I think that would be a big mistake.

The BBC3 meeting was to do with the Arnolds' Secret Project. Shabby was a little sceptical that it might happen any time soon

I think the songs Shabby listed to be recorded today are simply the ones which do not yet exist in demo form, i.e, we have only heard live/acoustic versions thus far.

When The World Ends is easily in my top 3 VH songs, so would be delighted if it made the album.

As for Lifeline... surely there's no way it won't be included...? It has to be up there as one of their best, if not *the* best by anyone's standards.

I think i like them more than i did a year ago but when the world ends isnt doing much for me so far.

She said "it's not one we all agree on as a band", which might just mean one person doesn't like it, while "the band" not liking it sounds like all of them.

Yes it should. So let's just hope a demo has already been recorded but just not been made available (perhaps during the SYLM sessions when both songs were written), or that they still intend to record it in a future session. Shabby did say it was a fave of hers, if not of the whole band, and that she would be "pushing for it".


Not that I know of... my assessment is based purely on the Garage recording.

Hmm. I do like parts of it. Perhaps it's growing on me. I like the "when the world ends" part through 1:03, but not the part that's at 1:04 to 1:15, then it gets a better again ("wait for me"), though not as good as the 1st part, until we're back to "when the world ends". (And so on similarly for the rest.)

Wondering what the VH news involving signatures is that Shabby mentioned yesterday... but kind of glad to hear that she's now a little less inclined to speak about certain things until they become definite. She obviously finds it difficult to contain her excitement when a new possibility arises (rather endearingly), but I always worried a little for her that saying too much to too many people could lead to too much confusion and bigger disappointments than necessary.

Oh dear... well nevermind, wildly different opinions on songs from fans are a good thing right??
it's only a short clip and the first live airing so not the best example perhaps, but I do think it sounds like a great song, Red fits in well as a guest performer, and the stage presence/ability of the band as a whole impresses me a lot.

I can't tell. The sound is rough as hell and for quite a bit of it all you can here is the same four note guitar riff playing over and over again. Would be interested in hearing a good recording though. Even in the form we have it is has grown on me a bit. (not criticising the person who put it up on youtube btw)

Prog rock? Stuff about sorcerers and ancient kings poncing round in satin cloaks? 20 minute drum solos? Guitar solos with the guitarist pulling the facial expression of someone trying to poo out a piano? I remember prog, and not in a good way.
