Well it tastes pretty rank, so cheap produce = lots of profit.

Pizza is very cheap to make, as are pasta and salad. Plus you all have a drink which they make massive profit on.

Markup on drinks.

Plus 6.99 menu price per adult means the food probably costs about 2.00 per large serving. i.e. it's crap.

There's nowt wrong with the Pizza Hut salad buffet. It is the pizzas that are rubbish.

They get you in and hope you'll like it, then later purchase takeaway or return for meals etc.
The pizza/pasta doesn't cost that much to make.
it's lunchtime only so they hope you aren't that hungry.
They also sell drinks, sides and desserts which will be highly profitable.

I have had a buffet meal from Pizza Hut a few times and I couldn't eat as much as I wanted, I always wanted to get up and get more but felt guilty when people saw you getting up again for more and more. It ended up with me just having a few slices and then pretending I was full.

I could have taken whole pizzas though if I wanted

Judging by the size of the people I see frequenting it, you having seconds would be the least of their concerns!

It would be their top concern if they saw other people taking the food and it wasn't being replaced

I've been at pizza hut before when they said they'd ran out of pizza bases

Aren't drinks refillable, or is that just in the evenings?

Good point, there would be a scrap over the scraps!

As Degsy said it is more the fact you are taking food that could be theirs. The restaurant in our work place is a similar situation, you queue up and ladle food on your plate, but when people are waiting next to you eyeing you up sourly to see how much you take, I end up hardly filling my plate as I just rush and put little so I don't look greedy. I walked away once with 6 chips on my plate once, still got rung up as a portion of chips at £1.20 so I was very disappointed

I think they are yes, I never frequented them until after I was twenty odd, and it was a real delight that somewhere refilled your drink for free, again though I only had one refill where as I saw others getting their moneys worth

Yeah, but it's still £2 or so for a Coke. Unless you're drinking 10 of them they're making a massive profit.

Not really. As stated, all the ingredients are ridiculously cheap. If you're buying in the quantities that Pizza Hut buy in then a large pizza would cost less than £1.

I think it's just under two quid. I always get at least two refills. Been to the buffet once and wasn't keen. No cheesy bites!

Plus they only sell bottled beer at over £3 a go. That's a massive profit.

My husband used to work in the kitchen when he was at uni. He says it is day old dough, only two toppings per pizza and always the cheapest toppings like pepperoni, ham, onion and rarely chicken.

Ultimately when it comes to food, you get what you pay for. I'd far rather pay £8 for a proper pizza in a good quality pizza restaurant, than stuff my face on the sub standard pizza and salad in a Pizza Hut buffet.

Why have so many people bothered to post in this thread just to moan about Pizza Hut? If you don't like it, fine, but that's not what this thread is about.
