Morning you

Hope you had a nice time yesterday at the museum. Thanks, sometimes just have to stand back and admire the brilliance of a brilliant team
I did thanks, despite having to see the Spice Girls exhibit too
I guess so - Mr Disney had the game on. He has told his stepdaughter to remove her Nou Camp bear from her car window when she goes to the Trafford Centre in Manchester to day lol!

Morning loves,

wow, new part again and what a great OP. Congrats CAML.

I had so many thoughts about Friday's episode flying around in my head that I felt the need to structure them. So I made a list (I like lists). Here it is (in alphabetical order):

Ten things I like about Friday's ep:

1. The acting
I know we can always rely on Marc & Johnny. Given the right material they always shine. They shine in dramatic scenes like ABRC but I think it’s even more remarkable how beautiful their acting is in those quiet scenes like the ones in Friday’s episode. It’s the little things –for instance the look on Christians’ face as he was lying on the sofa just before the proposal. I love how you can sense what’s going on in the characters’ mind without them saying anything. Great job as usual!
2. The affection
I totally adore the way they touched each other all the time (obviously!), the cuddles, little kisses here and there, the way they’re stroking each other’s arms, the constant need to comfort the other etc. It felt so natural and I really felt their love and respect for each other shining through every scene. Beautiful!
3. The beauty
Have you seen them? Damn, they looked bloody amazing. Not sure how that is possible but they seem to become more beautiful with every new episode. The highlight for me was Syes’s face after the proposal. I don’t think he EVER looked that beautiful. Those eyes, the face, the precious (more about the ‘The Precious’ see below:sleep
4. The conflicts
I think soaps tend to create conflicts for plot purposes. Often this leads to unrealistic portrayal of the characters (anyone cheats with anyone on anyone). The whole piper kiss nonsense is a good example imo. Creating angst for angst’s’ sake. In contrast to that the conflicts of Friday’s episode felt so real, so logical and character driven. Christian is feeling insecure because of the slow rapprochement of Syed and his mother. Of course he is, he has been told ‘You are not enough’ and ‘I love my family more’ in the past. Syed still feels guilty about how he ‘abandoned’ his family. Of course he hasn’t but I totally get that he still has those feelings regarding everything that happened and how it happened. It’s real, it’s about their history and I’m honestly impressed that we get these issues brought up.
5. The culture of conflict management
There’s the German expression ‚Streitkultur‘ and I can’t really think of a better translation than ‚culture of conflict management‘ although I’m not sure about it. ‘Streitkultur’ is an established term with a positive meaning. It’s about the ability to really discuss an issue and exchange different opinions in a constructive manner. I loved how we had that positive atmosphere and constructiveness in Chryed’s scenes on the one hand and the very destructive shouting, arguing and slapping with Zainab and Masood on the other hand. It clearly shows the state of their respective relationships-very well done.
6. The dialogue
OMG, they can talk!!! And they are allowed to talk about how they feel. No 40 seconds rule but actual dialogue. What happened to the world??
7. The flat
One of the (many) things I didn’t like about surrogacy is that they seemed to be homeless. I love that the flat is back, it makes the dialogue (omg, there was dialogue!!) much more intimate. It’s just the two of them, it’s calm and above that I still enjoy watching Syed being really ‘at home’ there.
8. The Precious
I think that’s the only aspect I’ve mentioned on the thread so far regarding Friday’s episode. Priorities and stuff… But seriously, how perfect was the Precious in that episode?? I totally love and adore ‘reunion precious’ but ‘proposal precious’ must be my new favourite look. Stunning!!!
9. The Proposal
Yes, I was a bit scared. I tend to cringe at quite a lot of scenes and I feared that it would be too cheesy or just strange or something. But fact is: I laaarved it!! Phew, I’m so relieved!
10. The writing
Oh, Darren I love you. It’s Pete and Darren for me now. The two perfect writers for Chryed. They get them, they seem to care for them, they let them talk. Thank you, you are both heros!!

That's it. Sorry about the essay – I just had to praise that wonderful episode.
Hope you’re all well and have a lovely Sunday. I’m out for most of the day, might pop back on tonight.
xx
