Anyone got a Halogen Oven and would recommend them. I am only cooking for one and I wondered what you can cook in them and how economical they are and if they are suitable for one person. Can you cook a whole roast dinner in the oven together. Thanks in advance.please,

A little late with the response I guess. But still....

i've bought a lot of kitchen gadgets over the years but my halogen oven is, without doubt, the best. I've had one for over a year now and have used it just about every day (and have used my conventional oven no more than 2 or 3 times over the same period.

I live alone and it's perfect for me. Does fantastic roasts (especially chickens), incredible roast potatoes and is terrific with chilled ready meals and frozen chips. It also is great for grilled steak, sausages, bacon and baked potatoes and does excellent cheese on toast. It's cheap to run (especially as it needs no warm-up time), takes up no more space than an average microwave and I can do a full roast dinner in about 1hr 40mins. It even has a self-clean function so needs little more than a rinse and a wipe.

The only thing it doesn't do well is cakes, which is why I've used the conventional oven 2 or 3 times!

Peter

It's the only kitchen gadget we've bought that hasn't ended up in the cupboard.

I've recently got one and I love it! I've just done chicken wings and chips for my sons and pork chop and chips for me for tea. The pork chop and chips ony took 10 mins!! We did a whole chicken for Sunday Dinner in it last week which only took an hour.

Got one early last year.

Did the homework and got Andrew James one.

Excellent purchase.

Not quite happy with the roast spuds but for all other things it's superb.

Top Tip: Get one

2nd Top Tip: Put a sheet of foil on the 'pan' - saves even more cleaning.

Halogen ovens are an absolutely brilliant alternative / replacement for a conventional oven, which is why I bought my mum one. Although I have told her that anything which can be cooked in a conventional oven can be done in the halogen model, she still prefers to use her big oven for certain things. The power consumption is a lot less so, if you are a one / two person family, it would be ideal.

Had one as I thought it was ideal for me living alone. I sent it back.

Maybe I got a crap type, or too small or something wasn't right anyway.

I tried to do oven type fish and chips in it - not a success.
The top shelf was fine but because that blocked off the direct rays, the bottom shelf didn't cook or brown nearly as fast. Not big enough to put a pizza in either, and frankly that's what I'd use it for most of the time.
