Sounds totally like something you'd get from a British Chinese takeaway

I once saw chips as a topping on Pizza in Sardinia. Aparently it was catering for the German market.

It's also called Amchur/Aamchur/Amchoor powder/spice.

I haven't seen it around here but I did manage to pick up some Chaat Masala
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaat_masala

I know it's not the same but it does contain mango powder and does have a more tangy taste than other masala powders that i've had.

I've read you can substitute lemon or lime for it. I wonder if you could use lemon pepper?

I use lemon juice as a substitute but I always feel I might be missing out.

It's very yummy as in artery-clogging yummy - thickly cut fries with squeaky fresh cheese curds topped with rich, hot gravy.

I've had them before on a holiday in Devon/Somerset. There's been a couple of threads on here about them.

Try it sprinkled on fruit salad, it's really nice. Chaat massala also contains armchoor, so the tastes are pretty similar. It's also nice sprinkled on fried batter fish.

Gypsy potatoes -
Techinically when you Google them they aren't fries but when they are served at the wonderful Caravan restaraunt they are basically skinny chips served in some kind of mayo-esque sauce (it is much more than just mayo though) and there is also minature slithers of bacon.

Chilli cheese fries. These seem to be popular in the US.

Similar to the UK fave of bologaise on chips with cheese.

Chips in duck fat. Seen them on a Rick Stein show when he's in France. A big pot of them cooked over an open fire. Kind of a mix of chips and wedges but they looked great.

You may say they are just glorified chip butties but I wouldn't mind trying some of them. I don't think i'd try them all at the same time though like on Man V Food
