What are your favourite supermarkets and why?

I like to shop in waitrose. It has a nicer atmosphere in the shop and isn't as busy as our local sainsburys. The sainsburys beside us also is in a bit of disrepair and is always so busy that it can be a bit stressful to shop in at times.

ASDA. Although ALDI is just around the corner and I do use it for some stuff I usually goto ASDA. It's not too far away and next to a Morrisons. ASDA is creaper but sometimes Morrisons has better produce or produce that isn't available at ASDA. Tesco is further away so only go there if i'm in the area or there is something specific I need. They have a bigger choice and more ethnic/world food.

In terms of pure food I love Marks and Spencers best. It's expensive and not good for buying everyday stuff but whatever lovely sounding food you buy from ther, it's always delicious.

Second place is Waitrose. Lovely food as well but think M & S has the edge. Though Waitrose's are bigger, offer more items ands are a more traditional supermarket.

However I only occaisionally go to these two. My third and favourite and regular supermarket is Sainsbury's. By far the best and nicest food out of the well known chains.

Then fourth would be Co-Op if I just need to pick up a few bits and pieces.

Then all the rest are the ones I don't really like and don't go to. Though I would use any of them really except Tesco.

Tesco is by far my least favourite. Bland, tasteless, insipid food and it's actually not cheap in there at all. It;'s about the same price as Sainsburys but with disgusting food. Asda is cheaper than Tesco and yet they offer better food too. Tesco has nothing going for it whatsoever. Overpriced, horrible food, bad service, poor choice.

Sainsburys. In our's we get good quality without the Waitrose price tag plus there isn't a waitrose anywhere near us).

I find that Sainsbury's has better quality stuff and if you're looking for something more obscure you can usually find it there. The fish counter is excellent too.

I have a weekly argument with my darling oh over supermarkets!

I would shop soley in m&s and sainsburys as you cant beat their quality. He on the other hand is an ASDA and morrisons fan.

We tend to alternate between the four.

Special occassions (Christmas etc) its always m&s.

Today we did a mini shop in sainsburys.

Tomorrow we will prob do our big shop in asda.

You're missing out. They have items in there that you wouldn't find in an ordinary supermarket.

Just looked and the closest to me is 25 miles away in Newcastle city centre. Not the kind of drive I usually do for a bit of shopping.

Waitrose first...although I tend to use Sainsbury's on a more regular basis, due to Waitrose over all being just a little more expensive for weekly shops.

I love M&S food but it's just too expensive to have every week. Plus, it's nice to get it every so often and it feels like a treat.

Sainsbury's is my supermarket of choice though. I like their own brand stuff (apart from most of the basics range) and they do a lot of good deals. I can get a whole week's shopping for me and my partner for a good price. And their own brand onion rings crisps are AMAZING.

Yeah, its true. Sometimes I don't even know if it's so much the quality of the food (although, thats important), rather than the fact they're just much nicer to shop in than other places. Although, Waitrose the week before Christmas can be a hell like no other.

I love Waitrose, I could walk about in there for hours. Unfortunately the nearest one to me is 90 miles away.

I'm also a bit of a junkie like queenshaks, in fact when i'm in America and the wimmin go shopping I often slope off to the nearest supermarket for a mooch!

I've never been to America but when I do, I can't wait to check out their supermarkets.

How sad is that!

You should check out Waitrose one day. I really like them and only started using them a lot towards the end of 2010. They have good food and stock some of the things that I can't find at the other chains. Yes, they can be pricier, but they also offer lots of reduced items. Plus, they're much friendlier than the other chains.

For example, I went in there today to buy freshly squeezed orange juice, and the guy working there told me that he was about to reduce the prices on some of them. Instead of paying £2 something, I paid .99.

You'd have a field day checking out Wal-Mart. There are people who actually spend their Saturday nights there. LOL

Sainsburys for day to day stuff. Waitrose or M & S for special stuff.

I do the weekly online shop at Sainsburys. Two days before Christmas I went to Waitrose for goodies. I did not go to my nearest but the one near Russell Square tube. I went quite early and it was nearly empty! I bought loads of lovely cheese and chocs and other goodies you can't get at Sainsburys or locally. I put it in my old lady trolley and got on tube back to my house. Job done. Result.
