Managed to get this working earlier, and got Mint 13 Cinnamon onto a different USB stick just fine. Obviously an issue with the other stick.
Well, I have to say, as someone who just didn't see the point of Cinnamon, I am absolutely blown away with it on this release. Really very lovely indeed, and I can see why the distro is climbing the Distrowatch rankings. It's very very pretty and modern feeling, but has all the accessibility of the regular desktop paradigm. It's stunning. I honestly did not expect to like it one bit, but while I'm still unsure why it had to be forked from Gnome, the fact is it works and works well. So whatever technical reason they had for it, it has clearly paid off.
And now yet another quandary. I'm going to have to install it and get up close with it. D'oh!
