Can't receive C4HD, tried everything :-( S7800
Hi all,
I've read a few posts on this forum regarding C4HD, however nothing specific to my problem. I have an Samsung s7800 and can't receive C4HD. I have tried tweaking the dish, however I defiantly have it in the best possible angle, as it drops off when altering to any other. Signal strength is 92%, and Signal quality is 60%, would I need higher percentages to get C4HD? Many thanks Coldie

Are you in the UK?
Does the channel show up okay in the program guide? Automan. |

I suspect it's an issue with you STB.
I have a Foxsat HDR and get between 30 to 40 % quality on a badly aligned motorized dish in France. With low signal quality I get C4 HD, so if you have 60% it should be fine. Is your screen just blank (maybe your STB is not decoding the MPEG4 HD stream fro C4 HD ?). |

Thankyou for the info Automan and bobbywise.
Yes i'm in the UK (East Yorkshire). The Channel appears in the guide, and when I go the channel I just get a black screen. So it might not be my poorly aligned dish? Just going to do some research into what a STB is I'm a bit green with sat stuff.thanks again Coldie |

Just searched, set top box (I should have realised that).
Only thing that made me question whether it was the box at fault was : I know someone who also cannot get c4HD. They have two fox sats and a panasonic. So I questioned our dish aligning ability's. cheers Coldie |

If CHN4 HD is the only channel missing it may be worth trying.
Do a menu, settings, freesat scan. or more drastic (deletes planned future recordings) Do a menu, settings, reset to defaults. BTW, How well does your box work? Are you happy with it? Automan. |

I can get C4HD on the Samsung, signal strength 92% and signal quality 40%.

Cheers Automan, and Thunderquaker. Its looking like its a problem with the box then. I've previously tried the freesat scan (133 channels excluding radio) but does not seem to help. I may try the factory reset. Does it wipe the hard disk of all recordings or just scheduled?
I'm also going to probably take the box to a friends who also has a s7800 with C4HD working, which will tell me for sure if the box is faulty or not. I'll keep you posted on how I get on. Automan, regarding my opinion on the box... well its pretty rubbish isn't it? I mean it seems to do most things ok, but I'm not loving the 1sec recordings, deleting of programs (without asking) etc. Worst of all my wife doesn't like it, and prefers the Sky HD box. I'm not sure I would go that far but it really needs another update (or two) .Cheers Coldie |

e.g if you have Doctor Who (1), (2) etc it starts naming them from 1 again. I like your description of it "well its pretty rubbish isn't it?" ![]() Automan. |

Ok, so I have now tried my box at a friends house. C4HD worked fine. Which must mean its ether dish alignment or LNB or cable ect.
Look like I've got a weekend of ferteling ahead of me
