Substitute pasta for strips of courgette. Any pasta sauce (tomato based ones work best) over a bit of boiled courgette is lovely.
I've also been substituting mashed potatoes for mashed cauliflower. Add a bit of milk/butter/cream and it tastes delish. ![]() Lots of meat and veggies, eggs are good like scrambled or omlettes. Bacon, egg mushrooms etc without the toast and hash browns! I've been on a no carb diet for a week now and my stomach is looking alot smaller. The only trouble with the courgette one is

Atkins die tor similar can be very boring....
Try:- Fajitas style chicken beef - served in lettuce leaves is quite nice or substitue very thin omelette as a wrap? Large field mushroom stuffed with garlicy mince Mousaka with lots of aubergine & salad seems to work too Are you on a strict non carbohydrate diet where you cannot eat pulses either? |

I made a lovely coating for some chicken breasts last week.
Dipped them in a mixture of egg, parmesan and paprika. Then rolled them in (unsweetened ) dessicated coconut. The coconut absorbed some of the chicken fat, browned nicely and made a rather nice crunchy coating that tastes better than breadcrumbs (not just a substitute). I used breasts with skin, as well. I dubbed it "Tongue Thai'd Chicken!" |

Mrs. Bleads swore by leeks and cauliflower mashed as an alternative for spuds. Or turnip chips were ok though they need a bit of something like Cayanne on them.
Puy Lentils, fetta, basil, some garlic, sun-blushed tomatos and a splash of balsamic is very good. In fast lentils can make a good alternative to rice with a lot of things though they do make you a bit farty (particularly the red ones). |

Aren't lentils a bit steep in carbs, though?
