Who are Tony Husband and Ross Fletcher?

Ross Fletcher was BBC Radio Derby's drivetime presenter and Derby County commentator for a number of seasons, before leaving that station in 2009 to read sports bulletins on East Midlands Today and to do more reporting and sports newsreading for Radio 5 Live. At the moment he reads the sports news on Up All Night and through that has become a regular voice on the World Football Phone-In.

Tony Husband was a sports presenter and Portsmouth commentator on BBC Radio Solent and took a similar path to Fletcher, cutting down his Solent commitments to read sports bulletins on South Today and to do more football reporting for Radio 5 Live a few years back. He also presented BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra's NFL coverage on a couple of occasions last year.

Both were doing football commentaries for Radio 5 Live Sports Extra on a fairly regular basis until Radio 5 Live lost Premier League rights to talkSPORT last year. I guess giving them today's commentary match made sense as it allowed them to do a game on the main station while many of their regular commentators are away.

And Ross fletcher is back on 5 live doing the sports news tonight. I presume that was both of them doing their first scottish match today. Good on 5 live having it on

In what seems to be a change from this season, they had the first hour hosted by Jim Spence live from the studio then went to the commentary game and build up at 19:00.

Have 5 live covered the Sunday or Monday Scottish games?

I'm going to be very boring and ask the same question I asked this time last year

Can some kind person tell me if BRMB, Beacon and Gold still have rights for West Brom matches next season?

And could I just add, I would love it if Sky did go with a triple Super Sunday on October 16th and show the Black Country Derby.

There's a post in the Football Commentators thread in the Broadcasting section saying that Ian and Bruno's commentary was also used on Al Jazeera Sport's TV coverage of this friendly.

I guess they must have picked up the game at the last minute, wanted an English language commentary and with their not being a world feed available came to some kind of a agreement with BBC Radio Leicester to take their commentary instead.

Not too much has been revealed that we didn't already know, other than confirming that Sam Matterface will be presenting the first post-match phone-in of the new season from Brighton as he alluded to on Twitter. It seems like Alan Brazil will be continuing on Sunday Exclusive (for the time being at least), even if Neil Warnock probably won't. It will be interesting to find out who's alongside him Sunday week, seeing as Alvin Martin and Ray Houghton are down to do other programmes.

Totally off-topic but what the heck - it's a shame they've opted to go with Steve Berry on the overnight show rather than Duncan Barkes during the first weekend that Matt Forde will be away at the Edinburgh Festival!

I've not heard of any changes in the West Midlands so I'm presuming things will be as they were last season in this part of the world.

The Sports Bar returns on Gold in the Midlands next Monday (1st August), so hopefully details of their coverage will be confirmed come the first show of the new season with it going out between 6-7pm. The Orion stations don't usually cover pre-season so their commentaries will begin on Saturday 6th August.

Credit to essentialtv alerting me to MKFM's coverage in this thread. Apparently the station is on a short license, so I guess this is a one-off for the time being.

Mikey Burrows was Horizon/Heart FM's Dons commentator in 2008/09, before moving to Beacon Black Country and working on the Orion network's football coverage over the past two seasons. He and injured Dons centre back Doumbe are webcasting their commentary, complete with a webcam of them at work in the pressbox!

Bauer Radio has confirmed that Northsound will have commentary again this season on Aberdeen's SPL games, Moray Firth Radio will carry commentary on Inverness Caledonian Thistle's SPL games and Radio Clyde (One and Two) will carry reports and goal flashes from all SPL games.

The game was shown on quite a few TV stations around the world and all had commentary from BBC Radio Leicester.
