SP Lock could mean Service Provider lock but not sure on that. AFAIK, Orange charge £20 regardless of you still being in contract or not to unlock a phone.

O2 pay monthly have never locked their handsets, Vodafone offered unlocked pay monthly handsets too but then they changed their minds and started to lock them but after a year or so changed their minds again lol

So O2 and Voda customers on pay monthly get their handsets supplied unlocked, all other networks lock them although if taken from CPW or Phones 4 u you may get an unlocked handset regardless of the network.

Orange will charge an admin fee of £20.42 to unlock the phone, regardless of model or age.

O2 did lock the iPhones, but will unlock them for free once you're halfway through your contract, IIRC.

True the iphone was locked but that was because they had exclusivity i believe at the time so i can understand that. Saying that though when the iphones started to hit other networks they were locked to those networks too!
