Case Histories (new BBC1 drama series)
Starts Sunday (5th June) 9 p..m. BBC1, starring Jason Isaacs. Three 2-parters.
Based on the books by Kate Atkinson, of which I have the first one out of the library at the moment. Now I'm not sure whether I should finish reading it before watching it, and spoil the TV programme for myself (unless they change who did it, of course) or whether I should quickly finish it so the TV programme doesn't spoil the book for me! The Radio Times says the series is set in Edinburgh, whereas the book is set in Cambridge, not sure what the reason is for the change. Anyway, it looks as though it should be great. Dramatised by Ashley Pharoah. Up against Scott and Bailey on ITV1 on Sunday night, and part 1 of "Injustice" on Monday night. I'll definitely be watching this and recording "Scott and Bailey", but not sure what to do on the Monday as Injustice is going to be on every night of the week. Nice to be spoilt for choice, though. |

Looks good - on a purely shallow note, the trailer features Jason Isaacs minus shirt so I'm there.

Ooh, we have got ITV1 + 1, thanks for that. Don't think my other half will be up for watching either at 10 pm on the Monday night though as he has to get up early. We can record one or the other though.

I liked the book, not sure how well it would translate to TV though...

I have the book somewhere, never got around to reading it, it was a present and the - now ex - gf who bought it raved about it at the time.

The book was really, really good so I hope the adaptation comes close.
Look forward to seeing this. |

I have read all the Jackson Brodie novels and they are great. I do hope the tv series does not spoil them for me!

I remember this being filmed around Edinburgh. The trailers caused a bit of disruption IIRC (and I don't mean the shirtless Jason Isaacs kind
)

I've just bought the other 2 books and I see they are actually set in Edinburgh, unlike the first one.

Not a huge fan of it so far, they've changed too much of it!
I know it's an adaptation of the books but I'm sure there was no need to change the location and have such major changes in the characters! (Moan over!) Although Jason Issac's looks gorgeous, much better than the Jackson Brodie I'd imagined .

Weird watching a show based in and around my home town.
I think the location change might be to help the TV production coefficient for BBC. |

That may be the most messy and tonally uncertain hour of detective drama I've ever sat through.

Love watching this because of it being in Edinburgh.
We actually met Jason Isaacs when he was filming this last autumn in Princes St Gardens (we watched the guy have the heart attack and "Woman with dog" phone the ambulance haha) He was lovely in real life. I enjoyed the programme tonight. Look forward to watching tomorrow's. |

I thought this was quite good, apart from the background music on occasions, I find such with "vocals" a bit distracting.
Always admired Sylvia Syms, who has a small part in this. How cruel is time? http://www.nndb.com/people/723/000101420/ |
