Really rather liking my Foxsat HDR

Well I finally got the Foxsat HDR. Bought a cheap 320gb one from ebay, bit of a risk but it's fine.

First thing I did was whip open my old FSFS HD box, steal the 500GB hard drive out of it and shove it in the Foxsat. So a nice hard drive upgrade at no extra cost.

Loving being able to record stuff now and not have to rely on iPlayer or other catchup services, and even though I've only got one satellite link the loopback technique works well. I could even watch the footy on ITV-HD while recording CSI on Five.

Very very quiet too. Much quieter than my old FSFS HD box, so you could say I'm well pleased.

Have to say I had a rocky start with my Foxsat HDR. Seemed a bit complex after the Sky box and I found the delays in responding to the remote control a bit frustrating. I wondered if I had done the right thing in changing from Sky. Now, three months on, I'm very happy with it and have no thought of returning to Sky even though they keep sending me half price offers.

AND we have the OTA update tomorrow..
I can see that perhaps we now have a fully economic servicable item instead of a 'Throw- away when Faulty' item..

I already updated mine.

Can't compare it to Sky+ as I've never used it, but I found recording and setting the timer ridiculously easy. Haven't even had to look at the manual yet.

Been quite a painless introduction to the world of PVR...so far.

Sky+ is better from a usability perspective (never had Sky but have used it when visiting). However, the Humax is good enough, which is all I wanted, and of course you aren't paying a monthly fee for the privilege.

Sky+ is going to be better as its a paid service. The humax is free and has features that sky+ will never have, like being able to copy to USB. Also the raydons software that lets you FTP also copy and play files over your network. The only features I would like to see from sky+ is the record buffer function (Though you can get the buffer through the raydon software). Also I would like to see some kind of mobile recording system similar to what you get on sky+ (That will probably never happen).
