I am looking to upgrade my iphone 3gs to either an iphone 4 or the 5 if its out soon.

Now, I am currently on O2 and am wondering whether to stay with O2, now that they are rolling on U900 or whether to move to T-mobile.

Anyone got any thoughts.

I need good 3G coverage and reliability - no delayed texts and no missed calls, calls going straight to voice mail.

We have t-mobile and O2 in our household. Both get strong signals, but t-mobile is better, and we have a better deal from them for the same service.

I have had iPhones on both O2 and T-Mobile, and by far would recommend T-Mobile.

I'd recommend O2. I've had smart phones with both networks. O2's 3G performs well in most locations. T-mobile's 3G was patchy in many areas and not worth using. For call reception they were both good.

It really depends on where you live. In the area I live in, T-Mobiles 2g/3g coverage is far better then O2 coverage full stop. O2 dont seem to bothered covering rural areas very much.

The best option is to buy a T-Mobile pay as you go SIM and try it out where you need to use it.

Some people will say O2 is better, others T-Mobile (like me - O2 has almost no 3G coverage here, and the situation isn't better across the country. T-Mobile is miles ahead). But that's because we think it works better for us.

Go onto each providers web site and enter your post code in their coverage area. Also look at sitefinder.org.uk I think thats the site. Again enter your post code, it will list on a map where each transmitter is and what provider owns it. You might find another provider is better for your location

That is extremely odd you wrote that, as the general consensus seems to be the other way around, Orange and T-Mo combined can 't match O2's 2G coverage, for 3G however thats a totally different thing. And as for rural areas, O2 and Vodafone being on a 900Mhz mean signal travels further outside towns.

But O2 isn't really using 900MHz 3G yet except in places where they need it for the extra capacity - so major cities. As it stands O2's 3G coverage is poor if you're not in a large town or city (and from my own experience you can be in a city and not on 3G).

I live in a rural area (deep south west) and really all of the networks are much of a muchness when it comes to 2G - they all have their own blackspots that other networks don't have. However when it comes to 3G there are only two networks who count - 3 and T-Mobile.

I've had 3G coverage with 3 when I'm in the middle of a wooded area with not much nearby. That's how good it is (down here at least).

I was with o2 until recently going over to T Mobile. In my opinion, the network coverage is much better - and much faster.

I prefer T-Mobile myself as last time I checked (a couple of years ago mind you) they had less hidden charges and worked out cheaper for me.

I am with t-mobile and they are pretty good for me not perfect but hey what mobile company is?

Like someone else said your best bet is to get a t-mobile pay and go sim card and just see what kind of reception you get.

Much better to spend a tenner and find out it's crap than enter blindly into a 18 to 24 month contract.
