He had a shocking performance. I thought he was about to give up about half way through the song!

The judges seemed not to notice how awful he was, though.

A better song would have been something like 'Nights in White Satin'.

I liked him but he did sound like he was tired and had had a few.

I liked him but I thought his performace was terrible. What on earth were the judges listening to? It clearly wasn't Herbie's singing as he was off-note literally from the beginning and his voice cracked several times. I liked Herbie but this is a talent show, not a popularity contest ...

Yes, I was surprised he didn't get buzzed especially from Simon as he sounded like he had a sore throat when he was singing. He was marginally better in the auditions but even then was not great vocally. Nice guy, but sorry Herbie, you're not a good singer.

He would have been better off playing John Cage's 4'33" (complete silence)

He was dire beyond belief

I hid behind the sofa while he was on.

Those tombstone teeth and that Hammer Horror smile...make him go away Mummy

His voice was awful and the whole performance was quite embarrassing to sit through.

There seems to be quite a consensus here that his performance was poor. So why didn't the judges notice this and why did they even put him through to the semi-finals? He just wasn't really good enough to be there.

I'm sure Herbie's a nice guy, but his performance was truly awful. I couldnt work out what he was singing until he actually said "Oh Mandy...." and he was off key from the start!
He was singing ALL the wrong notes!
Not to mention he wasnt even playing the guitar.
