David and Karen ... utterly Different league altogether from the rest ...
The bouncy boys were really average and it was really annoying how the judges were manipulating our opinions ... Susan Boyle all over again. Jean, yeah makes you smile, but come on... David and Karen were exciting, classy, dangerous and I REALLY wanted to see what they would have given us on the final ... this programme is an insult to our intelligence.

David and karen were indeed robbed. Its shameful they weren't put through.

It's obvious what Jean will do at the final, 100% predictable whereas I was really excited to see David and Karen's next stunt ... I was hoping they would both transform into other people or something?? Now we will never know.

The Judges probably didn't like her. They threw the magic act out because they didn't want competition for their beloved Ronan.

you can spend years and years honing a magic act getting the timing and skill just right but if you dont connect with the audience then youll lose

and thats probably why magic acts have trouble in this competition. Because they have to set up and accomplish a complex trick in 2 minutes and still connect with the audience.

While someone who just comes on with a casio keyboard can instantly connect as long as they have a cheeky personality and a bit of charm

I know how the trick was done, but that doesn'tmatter, that mmakes it better because you know how precise the timing must be.

They did the exchange very fast - that's what made them so good, the speed of execution, which is something they must've practised hard to get it so good.

His Lordship Cowell seems to have forgotten they are picking an act for the Royal *Variety* Performance.

He's treating it as if it is a version of X Factor which allows kids and OAPs compete.

well they didnt connect with the judges (who didnt save them) or the audience (who didnt vote them to the final.)

i just dont see magicians ever getting far in this competition because they have to do a big trick to impress, and that big trick always takes up the full 2 minutes.

So they never have time to bond with the audience. Its just a swoosh in, look were padlocking the box and....now im free....tadaaar!

And while its impressive they remain somewhat distant from the audience.

I agree. The magic act should've been through. Wouldn't surprise me if they actually came 2nd in the vote either.

David and Karen chose to do a set piece (off the shelf) illusion and performed it as per the supplied instructions. It has been performed by many others, some better, some worse, relies on a simple illusion principle which is used in countless 'locked in a box' illusions, the principle is known by many and has been revealed by the 'Masked Magician' amongst others. They brought nothing new to it. I would imagine that many people at home would know how the illusion is done and consequently would not be inclined to vote. If an illusion act intends to win BGT they have to do better than this!

I love magic acts tbh and like many feel David and Karen should have got through.

Btw by the same token I am no pianist but it was my impression that her piano playing was not partic great - any who play the piano want to comment? - she is a retired music teacher isn't she and I would imagine if she's spent 30 years (ish) playing the piano in school then to do what she did tonight was not especially challenging and could have done by many ex or current music teachers. Then all they need is to learn how to smile and wink = potential winner of BGT.

I've nothing against her (honest!!) as she seems a nice lady and a character but to be rated in the best 10 variety acts in the country I think is a bit much

Just watched their act on You Tube and they were pretty amazing! As long as no camera tricks were involved. Ant and Dec would have caught a glimpse of anything happening behind the 'curtain' that was being held up. I suspect someone from the show was in on it by providing a surprised reaction. Great illusion though.
