Not to mention his overhype of One Direction in XF and now New Bounce on BGT. Can he not hear how average they are?

I think he's deafened by their marketability. I'm not sure about New Bounce, but One Direction, although completely mediocre, he knew there would be a fanbase for them and knew they could rake it in.

None of the judges seemed to be able to hear Jean's woeful keyboard 'skills' either.

I found her quite amusing but I'm sure I heard a few bum notes in there.
