Constipated Time Lords?
MrPowered
31-05-2011
Greetings,

We all remember the Ninth Doctor saying he could have two heads, right? Well, think back to the good old days of the High Council of The Time Lords. Imagine a Time Lord regenerated... But, something went wrong. Say, for example, they didn't have the body part to excrete feces. What would happen?

Would the High Council order a surgical procedure? Would the Time Lord be forced to regenerate? Or would the Time Lord have to suffer permanent constipation until he / she regenerated next?

EDIT: I'm just wondering whether they had a dedicated Time Lord for this exact occurrence? 'The Constipatior'.

Ahh. Maybe the symbiotic link to the Tardis disposes of their waste by teleporting it to the Eye of Harmony? No wonder the Time Lords forgot where they hid it...

I always thought when he said he could have two heads that meant he might regenerate to resemble another species. Not that he might regenerate with faulty parts

True.

By the way, guys - this topic is just meant to be a funny take on a potential problem. Not that a Time Lord will necessarily get constipated or something, but what if he had no eyes, or some other genetic abnormality?

You have to wonder about the Doctor's godmother who had two heads though, maybe Nine wasn't joking...

The only interesting thing about the novelisation of 'The Twin Dilemma' was the description of Regeneration and how some regenerations CAN go wrong if too many are taken in close succession. Also take 'Timewyrm: Exodus' for example, describing the War Chief's aborted regeneration (two bodies badly mangled together). Bottom line being: Regeneration can go wrong and I'd imagine that if a Time Lord was born without an ass, then hopefully that could be fixed within the 15 hour cycle.

I was going to make a pompous ass joke about Time Lords, but I'm hungover.

Maybe, but if they could do that then they'd be able to modify themselves within those 15 hours!

Or else could be a nod to Douglas Adams and his Zaphod Beeblebrox character.

It's to speculate whether Time Lords ever have a massive problem with their body during regeneration, and if so, what do they do about it?

What if they had a damaged brain and became mentally ill? (no offense intended to anyone) What would happen?

I seem to remember reading that any 'faulty' regeneration could only be rectified by a further regeneration - but if this were to happen then it more-than-likely signifies that the very ability of the Time Lord to regenerate is waning... so any attempts to regenerate 'out of' the problem would very often end in the death of the Time Lord.
